Storing Marijuana In Mason Jars

here's the deal... i was told by a friend that keeping your buds in a mason jar will keep them fresh and it will "cure" any buds that haven't been cured already. then, after a while i realized that keeping it in the jar was causing my buds to dry out too much and the buds were losing their smell. after i did some research i found out that it's only good to store your buds in a mason jar if you fill the whole jar, because of the air in between. so, my question now is what is the best way to store a quarter or half ounce to preserve freshness and keep it smelling nice? thanks!

A smaller Mason Jar.

my dad keeps his in a zip lock baggie, wrapped in foil, and kept in the freezer. That seems to keep it pretty fresh.( he does that if he's planning on storing it there for awhile, like a few months)

haha true u can find jars of any size use old candle jars that have sealed lids

I use mason jars.... I sometimes put a few nugs in a smallish jar and they stay stinky for weeks and weeks




keep those suckers in the jars

Yea, if you can't find a Mason Jar itself, just get some "Gerber" baby food jars. They are perfect for about 4 grams.

I only fill my Large Mason jars 1/2 way. Just in case I encounter the dreaded mold. After 1 month of curing I fill the jars completely knowing I am safe from mold.

its not a good idea to store your weed in the freezer. cold temps cause the trichome heads to become brittle and easily broken off the bud. a cool dark air tight location is the best. glass is better than plastic because plastic is porous.

irieie beat me to it lol...freezing is the first step to making hash, remember. I have been using mason jars, but just found some awesome ones at Walmart. They are square glass jars with screw lids. Two sizes, the large one is called large apothecary jar and the smaller one is a cracker jar. I made these little plastic clear pouches that I glued on the jars so I can put in a slip of paper showing strain, date, etc. I cleaned out the two closest Walmarts to me lol

Ha thrifty is I, i bought this one at dollarama, 1.25$ they had a few sizes but this one is perfect for an oz, the smaller one is a spice jar also purchased at dollarama for 1$ holds about a quarter

I keep my bulk smoke in Mason jars.
I take out what I need and grind it up and put it in Baby food jars, they wor pretty will but your bud will dry out after about 2 weeks.
I keep the bud I use to make my budder in Zip lock bags in the freezer.

dam he's been doing it that way since the 60's i think lol. But he's always smoked shwag until i started growing about 2 years ago. I can just see that stash i gave him wrapped in foil in the freezer lol. im gonna have to call him tomorrow

I think the father/son thing is great my son and I grow our own and try not to grow the same so we can trade up at the end of the year.

I use mason jars, but air tight tupperware works better than just ziploc bags too

ahh great minds think alike. i also purchase my jars at walmart the ones i shop at have square glass jars with a round top that has a triple layer plastic seal. they have three sizes, the small one is great for 1/8-1/4 and then they go up from there. the largest one fits about 40-60 grams so about 1.5-2 ounces. these are great and much cheaper than those stash jars you can buy at a head shop. they range from like $1-$3 and they work great. i found them in the kitchen utensils aisle.

I dont like mason jars. The are cheap and they do the job but they are thin and break easily and the transparent glass means you have to keep them in a dark place. I buy colored storage jars with screw on lids. I buy a few small ones to hold what I break out to smoke .

To keep the buds moist, I put a small piece of fresh cabbage leaf in the jar. Gotta be conservative. If they get too moist they can mold.

I use Mason jars, 1 Qt. and....
I'm smoking some H.S. that I grew back in 2010..
It's smooth, tastes fantastic and does a good job.
Just thought I would give you an update.

dollar stores usually have a very large assortment of different sized jars to pick from

I got mine at Wally World. Probably more than the dollar store, but nice jars. Screw lid, square. Three sizes: the large one can hold 4-6 oz depending on density. I usually throw in one of those little digital hydrometers to keep an eye on moisture.
