stories about people protecting themselves and others with guns

If it's my life it is a lot.
Bait and switch - England is not America. this "it could happen to you" rings hollow. The culture is different, the underlying laws are different, the history is different. It no longer matters why the founding fathers put the 2nd amendment in the document, it is there.

And there is one other detail. Gun related deaths are pretty low in the U.K. one wonders if it is worth a few tony martins (life in prison is one thing, we tend to simply put criminals to death here - I figure over all - they are a bit more civil than we). to keep our gun death rate totals below a hundred a year.

Of course I am sure you will disagree with that statement. Tell me, what IS your right to keep and bear worth in human lives?

OK.

1240 British sailors and 1200 Germans KIA during the revolutionary war during invasion on America is a good start. Find me 7320 accidental gun deaths then we will move to the next.

Nice. Are you sure you don't want to walk this back to the 1600's?

I'm talking NOW. There are roughly 200-300 justifiable homicides in America every year, and 800-900 accidental gun deaths every year.

Do you? I'm not so sure.

In my 27 years on this earth ive never seen a child drink a 44oz carbonated beverage, have you? You can't regulate stupid, they will just get 4x12 oz anyways. Should we limit the amount of alcohol or tobacco people can buy? Limit the size of ATV's? Limit the effectiveness of pencil sharpeners?

Of course you don't understand. That must just be your lot in life to follow the herd. This is what is coming and those of us who are independent thinkers know it.

What laws? You mean laws which are based on the Constitution? You know...that little piece of paper that you hate.

Not worth a higher violent crime rate like the UK, thats for sure.

You could look at it that way lifegoes.... you could use that single statistic if you wanted but here is another

US incarceration rate per 100,000 = 730
U.K. incarceration rate per 100,000 = 154

Now how does that disparity figure into your violent crime stats?

I thought you said that the American prison system is a corporation.

The "herd" you are referring to are your fellow citizens, which in a representative democracy are supposed to have a voice. If you want only your opinions to matter, maybe you can gain favor with a third world dictator and move there.

Until such time, you are going to have to deal with the herd, and all that comes with living with 300 million other people.

Are you for gated lakes and oceans too? That would save more lives..... How much do accidental gun deaths have to decrease to make you happy?

No, we live in a Republic, where everyone's rights are supposed to be protected by following the constitution.

Just like living in a condo, eh? Problem is it isn't a condo. It is a Republic with a Constitution.

Since many of those are non violent drug offenses, not too happy.

I see that 'struck by or against' is deadlier than firearms. Maybe we should also regulate everything that someone can be hit with...for the children.

Goddamn it...Think of the children!:cuss:

I also see that Natural/Enviornment killed more that twice what firearms did....fucking nature! Ban it I say...

Its time to have a serious conversation about getting rid of all this machinery.

How many crimes are averted by someone just showing their firearm, without firing a shot? 90% of the time, that is all that is needed to change the perps mind and those never make into the news.

What representative democracy? What country do you live in?
