Storage

I only do one grow every two years........I yield enough to last that long.
I don't smoke anymore........I make canna caps.
My question is: Is it better to make all the weed into canna caps for long term storage, or is it better to store in mason jars and use as needed?

i havent made caps but i’d guess an extract could be stored longer than plant material right? i mean i had significant potency drops with a year old weed with some strains but my chocolates are still pretty potent.

Long Term I use the biggest mason jars I can find in the stores and vacuum them, put in a dark cool place and some jars I lost and found after 3 years were like nothing changed. Got me fried and was the smoothest smoke I've had probably ever. You can look up mason jar vacuum pumps but for me I just use a vacuum chamber pull it to -1 bar with the jars inside, caps on and lids snug and then dump the pressure and they all seal up real nice. No chance of oxygen in full vacuum the buds will come out like new.

I don't use vac bags due to them squishing buds.

Put weed in ball/mason jars, standard lids with caps & twist piece separate, pull full vacuum for a few mins and then close your pump valve and open the pressure inlet valve entirely, cans will suck lids in if vacuum was properly achieved, if not then just redo the process on jars that did not seal. This works good for medication and all sorts of things.. It'll stop oxygen etc from oxidizing it.

It's not really a recipe.
I use an Ardent FX for decarbing and infusing...........simple and easy.
I do 1/2 oz. of bud at a time.........although I could do more.
I decarb, then grind smaller (not powder).
I add approximately 1/2 cup of coconut oil and infuse.
I strain the oil from the plant matter with a potato ricer and fill 00 size capsules........makes about 63 or so.........make sure they're oil capsules.
I take 3 a day, and within a couple of hours I can't walk straight.........driving is out of the question. Lol.

Haven't seen that ardent fx before. I use a sous vide heater vac my weed in a bag and drop into the water. I find the water keeps the temp very stable and you get a real solid decarb out of it. Then it's infusing in a slow cooker and same as you I fill up caps and freeze them (noticed they weren't as strong after a year w/o freezing)

I got a can of bloxygen. I'll put a nug in a jar and hide it away, and revisit this thread in 3 years. Catch you all on the flip side :P

I was a long time user of vacuum sealers. The buds ended up being like particle board after the compression and storage. Not to mention the resin covering the inside of bags. I moved on to a jar sealer. Much better textured buds.

I now just cure to 45% or close RH in mason jars. Store in a dark location that remains around 66F. Just finished 2 year old stuff. Better taste. Some color fading. And a bit harsher than when put up.

As I was trying to say,........ Dry storage at 72F or less works well for me. Get your RH right before putting away.

My 3 cents.

Yep, nitrogen works good as a preservative as well. I think argon is a bit cleaner though? Could be wrong.. They can both be mixed too.. which I think some companies do to make there products.

All my liquid nicotine base for vaping I keep stored in the freezer, under argon and or nitrogen. Should stay good for years and years. I have heard nitrogen can impart a reddish hue and taste( to Veg Glycerin, PG), but not sure about it really. Could be BS that I heard. Nitrogen canned cold brew coffee does kinda have a zing to it.

I would have no qualms about using either to try and store cannabis long term, just never had a reason too...

Pull a vacuum first, then slowly pull in pure gas as you evacuate the jar/chamber, leaving just a slight vacuum as you seal it off.

The heavier gas would sink, like an invisible liquid (at least under normal circumstances), so only the very very top most area would have some air. Just make sure the materials aren't pushing up into the lid area.

Bet that would last for decades!

Might have to market that shit. You hear a little implosion or pop or whatever, and see the cold vapors shoot out when you crack open a can of "nitro nugz". Perfect for the preppers to go with there 25 year food storage. :P

I was thinking nitrogen gas. That is how they store sealed fruit, potato chips, and lots of other things.
No visible vapors or anything like liquid nitrogen
