how come one of the first things i remember as a child was being taught how to put myself out if i ever caught on fire. has anyone ever had to use this technique? seems really odd that, as children, everybody was afraid of us spontaneously combusting. :eyesmoke:

Iv never had to use it.. To be honest, if i was on fire, id be panicking so much i dunno if id remember to roll around on the floor..
Wouldnt it be better to just take all your clothes off?

Oh boy...I have... I used to put tennis balls into plastic grocery bags, douse them in gasoline, light them on fire and hurl them down the street. Well one day...too much gas and too little focus I lit myself on fire. I ran around for a few seconds realized what I was doing and hit the ground. It worked, but yeah...let's say I never did that again.

HAHA!! I've never seen any spontaneous combustion either, but I do know a few ppl that have had to stop, drop, and roll. The more I think about it though they were pretty drunk and shouldn't have been that close to the camp fire anyway. Nobody ever got hurt just laughed at!!:peace:

If you ever catch on fire, try to avoid looking in a mirror, because I bet that will really throw you into a panic.

I've used it once. kinda stupid though why. I sprayed axe bodyspray on my arm and lit it on fire, and usually when I do that it doesn't last long and it's easy to put out, buuuut this time it didn't go out and I threw myself to the ground and started rolling around. it didn't work right away, but it eventually went out. the only bad thing of the situation was the lingering smell of burnt arm hair. the good thing was that I had a smooth left arm for a little while :)

It works for everything but your head.I was clearing a 19 acre woodlot for pasture with a freind who wanted to help burn the wood pile.He is a pyro at heart.I was on the tractor pushing a bunch of brush into the pile while he was getting it ready to burn.I did not know he had poured the whole 5 gallons of gas i had on the pile.I asked him if it was ready to lite and he said yes.I threw a burning rag onto the pile and found myself standing in hell. The fumes has spread about 30 feet around the outside of the pile.
I lost all of my face hair and had about a 1/4 inch of burnt hair left on my head that looked like a afro.I rolled around till the flames went out and got up,and my buddy says your head is still burning.
Needless to say he never helped me burn again, and i always use deisel now.OPH
