Friday flower update: week 6.57

She's moving along and filling in really well. I may have a bit of nutrient burn as the very tips of the big fan leaves are dying on me but I am toning down the nutes for the next few feedings and we should be back on track. If this goes another 4 weeks these 8 tops may be really thick!! The entire center looks like a big ass nug.

Flower week 7.57, quarantine week 4.57...

No more height but more girth everywhere. The center creepers are really filling in and I'm concerned I may get mold so I'm running the little fan from underneath a bit faster. I ran into 2 days of tough conditions because it got warm here randomly and I didn't have my AC running to cool the house. Temps and humidity both spiked. I'm ordering some new equipment to upgrade my airflow and ventilation before trying my summer grow. That's it for now. Stay safe out there!

Friday Flower Update: week 8.57 in flower

Check the pics and let me know what you think? How much longer do I have left? Also my larger fan leaves are slowly dying as you can see. Is this just the plant maturing and nearing harvest? And some burns on some leaves. Any input to help me finish out this lady would be awesome. I have one of the Growers Choice Seeds Purple Kush beans in germination stage, hopefully it pops. Take care and stay safe in this crazy world!

Oh shit oh shit oh shit!!! My first purchased seed has popped!! Fem Purple Kush from Growers Choice Seeds is officially sprouted and just in time since I'm finishing up the SSH!!! Luckily I have a small veg box a buddy gave me so I can use my main box for the drying process for the SSH before jarring it up for cure while this one lays down it's roots! So fucking stoked!!!

Friday flower update: week 9.57

That's it! Today begins 48 hours of darkness. I checked with the scope and I have amber on a few tops, I'm not waiting any longer! I removed the swamp heater and added another Vornado fan for better circulation since I will not have any additional light heat till chop, so only humidity to contend with. I read about ice on the soil increasing yield in the last 48 hours so I'm trying it but I will have no way of telling if I gained anything or not! I'm not sure if she is fully flushed but the ice should help with that over the next 2 days. I'm pretty proud of my 2nd grow. I'm not sure how the seedling for #3 is doing, I may need to up my germination game, time will tell. I can't wait to blaze this Super Silver Haze but my OCD won't let me till 8 weeks of cure is complete....sheesh...

Drying coming along, I’m able to keep my humidity and temp in a good spot I think, it has been drying since Sunday afternoon. Odd part is it lost it’s crazy weed smell! Buds are still somewhat moist but getting better, it ,ay be more than 7 days to dry.

I have a new fan to test against the same one that I have installed in my box, that should increase my exhaust capabilities.

Purple Kush baby looking good! I’m going to do a revamp on the veg box when I put her in the main box once the drying is complete.

Buds dried and "trimmed" (I really suck at trimming and hate it too apparently). Ended up with 31g of the goodies after removing the stems and leaves. I did also find a shit ton of seeds that I removed before weighing...hopefully this is the last time I deal with shitty seeds now that I'm growing purchased genetics. Time to swap out the exhaust fan and set the Purple Kush in the box!! This time I will go for 16 tops and try to fill in the space horizontally.

New exhaust fan is in the box, on its lowest setting it’s pulling more air out of the box than the previous fan was at its highest setting, however it’s probably 2x as loud. I removed the swamp cooler and replaced it with another Vornado. I might add a mini humidifier for veg since I’m having a hard time keeping it high where I want it. Even with the new fan temps got up to 82*F in the box with lights on, however that is significantly cooler than before. From my research Purple Kush doesn’t mind the warm temps but I may still move the box downstairs for cooler intake air.

Friday update on the Purple Kush: 15 days since sprout.

I am struggling really bad with keeping my humidity anywhere reasonably high...I have 5 open water containers in the box and cranked up my home humidity but it only runs with the furnace and that hasn't been running with warmer temps...I have a small humidifier on the way today which should help a bit.

New fan is keeping my temps bear the top end of where I feel comfortable which should suffice for the summer grow. It's louder but I'm used to it now and it's background noise now. Sounds like a mini fridge always running.

Friday update: she is picking up speed! Interesting she is turning counter clockwise each day according to what I saw in the gif I made. I will probably do the first topping in the next few days for the mainline. I have my humidity in a better place now as well.

Question for y’all, do I start flushing 1 or 2 weeks before chop day?
Never. “Final Flush” is for toilets.

Flush as needed with plain water at any time, only if salt buildup on the media is significant/causing problems. Everything about “final flush” is based in misunderstanding causation and a drive for short cure times.

If you want the best results, yield, flavor and possibly potency:

1) don’t flush at the end, and...
2) cure over a longer time. (Just saw you are curing for 8 weeks! That’ll do!)

Nice work, love the build and the plants look great. I would recommend that you keep feeding them unless you feel the tips are too burned, then flush with some extra plain water and resume feeding until harvest. Some folks like a little tip burn at the end.

Skip the molasses while you’re at it. Keep it simple, the tiny possible benefit is not worth the hassle. Consider replacing it with some Great White in your waterings occasionally. It is like magic powder for root health. I am not a shill, just a happy user of the product with a little freshwater biology in my background.
