Sticking a chopstick through stalk during last 2 dark days of flower

I think this is a fad started by Bergman at ilgm a few years ago
Old hippie thing. Used to be they said to put a nail through the stalk.
Thank you. Will look into getting a UV light.
Agromax t5 10,000k+uva can be run full time. They make a 2 and 4 foot bulb. They also make a pure uv bulb but it can only be run a few minutes each hour about 3 foot off the canopy.
then i will throw it out when it doesn't work.. is keeping the plant in the dark prior to harvest hippi mumobojumbo to in your opinion?
Not for resin. It will increase terpenes (smell).

Other than that nothing is gained.

The best time to chop is lights out right before they come on. Starches are in the root zone and more terpenes.

The best thing to do is find good genetics. Dial in your grow room. Temps and humidity. Work on proper watering technique.

Grow a healthy happy plant to the end and you will have good smoke.

After you dial all that in there are little things you can do like add uv or mixed spectrums.

I prefer a mixed spectrum. The more the better the plant.

I wanna know how it was a "fim experiment "and why that made it to where u don't care if it fucks it up. Did u fuck up the fuck I missed? Fim is not hard to do but I guess maybe some strains would react negatively. Can I see a pic of the whole plant please?

Here is an analogy to consider. If you are a well developed athlete hitting your stride towards the finish line should I shoot your leg off and expect you to finish the race faster? Think about it.

OP, when I started growing in the 1970's, the stress the plant was a thing with the old hippies. Folks would hammer roofing tacks into the stem. Cousin Wayne did it and swore it made his weed better. But he also dumped ice on his plants to make them bud faster. He knew they budded in the fall when it got colder, so he figured that ice. . . . . . .

I "fuck, I missed" fimming all the time. Plant still gets bushy, but the top remains dominant, just slower...

I'll get it dialled in someday

Oh I see what you mean ive had that happen before I believe its genetics for sure. Top the phenos who react badly. My negatives reactors will slowly get taller and put out odd staggered heads usually two good ones and one small mis-shape looking one

lmao my dad used to do the ice trick too and also thought cold caused budding. He says he's never seen a trunk as big as some of mine have been. He wasn't giving nutes I think. Just good looking native soil. Maybe cow poop n molasses but thats all lol

Most of my Poly Shunk 1 f2's {triangle kush cookies x nightcap x shit/skunk} didn't like topping at all. Some put out 4 tops and some had one that grew fast and one that didn't. Also had it to some extent with the other Shit/Skunk crosses. Next season I might not top, just stake them down as they grow. Or top some and not top others to see which is more effective with each strain.

Folks get funny ideas about cause and effect. Especially with limited data. At the time, I didn't know any of the tricks you can do with the light cycle. If only I had known about Spring Cropping in the 70's. . . .

At least with me, the cow poop growing back in the day was economically, not ecologically driven.
