I can't speak for Stephen's intentions, but I get the feeling that he's doing all this work around creating a Super PAC to make a point about how the rich can easily corrupt the American political system, and modern democracy is a big joke. So I don't think it matters to him if he wins, just that he creates a stir.
I agree kind of but I think that was last years news..... Last year he didn't have a Super PAC with a crap ton of money in it, that is legally set up to legally donate to any candidate of the Super PACs choice... And now that it is legally in John Stewarts hands he could move all that money to colberts campaign.. Also he saw that he was ahead of one of the formal presidential candidates, before he entered the race even.. That's pretty serious!
I think he has more of a chance this year, and he is getting his ducks in a row and going for it.... And if he doesn't make it so what..... But if he does I think he will drop the show temporarily take his seat in office...
I mean what better of a life accomplishment can you think of? I would definitely drop Television indefinitely to be the President of the United States.
Sometimes he carries his satire a little too far.
Only on TV. In interviews he explains that he doesn't even let his kids watch his show because he doesn't want to confuse them. He says he's a totally different person at home vs. on the air.. and I would assume if he were to take office he'd bring the same approach!
Check this out, a moment of, 'the real colbert'.
