Just noticed my outdoor plant turning woody at the stems. Anyone know what this is from?

I know that when cannabis plants enter flowering, their stems begin to take on a tougher, woodier texture, which is one reason that heavy LST'ing really isn't do-able in flower. The stems don't bend like they do in veg, they just snap instead of bending.
