stem splitting from to much growth...?

Has this ever happened to anyone else...it's just growing too fast. I don't want rot or bugs getting in there....what should I do? I will upload a pic in a min.

That's what cages prevent. Happens to big plants without some kind of support. It should be fine depending on how bad it is. Go get more support asap. It will only get worse.

It's not splitting from the top but from the bottom

From growing too fast...

use whatever mechanical device you have to to keep the stem from splitting open ie duct tape, electrical tape, plastic wrap

I've had similar cracks appear in years past with no issues. I think it could be similar to what happens to tomatoes and happens from excessive water. I wouldn't worry. Maybe someone who has more knowledge can give some more solid advice

Not saying 100% the problem but I have seen this occur in other plants like palms and it was caused by excess water up take. The plant takes up more water then it needs and splits the trunk..
What is the stuff around the base that looks like the cat tossed it's food

I have to battle PM here in SO. Cal in the late late fall and winter but never slime mold too dry. But I have seen a white type of slime mold but that was closer to the beach area and on lawns..

Lmao....it's the native clay soil lol

We have native clay soil heavy in KY but it doesn't look like puke lmao. Pink slime mold grows out of my mulch every year and looks like this.

I believe you lol. I was just saying that it LOOKS like slime. .

As others have said, no real problem here. It's just the bark {?} split, not the stem. Maybe cover with duct tape.

Silica would help , next year?

Okay guys thanks....was stressing but now I know what caused it. Really thanks.....can't do anything about the water........ only watered twice this yr and it was maybe a gallon a plant each time.

I used electrical on a wind broken plant this year. Worked great.
