regular clothes dresser... gutted

i use the shelf bracing that was in the dresser to adjust my plant platform height rather than adjusting the lights, they are stationary, this grow will be very small since there isnt much space, especially during budding

14 23w cfls, on timer for 18 on 6 off (veg)

dual 100 cfm fan, pulls fresh air from bottom under plants and exhausts heat/air thru back of dresser... thermostat controlled, fan shuts down if temp falls below 65' and lights turn off above 90' as a little safety margine, i dont want my babies burning up or a FIRE!

any suggestions on how i can make it better?
comments? even if they hurt my feelings i'm a big boy i can take it hahaha

That setup looks pretty cool. What kind of fan setup is that? Are you going to step up to higher wattage cfl'swhen the plants get bigger?

thats a fuckin sweet cfl setup. im impressed. if your trying to keep it stealth though, the exhaust will start to send out skunky odors soon. what do you have planned for that? carbon filter?

you will need more lighting for flower.

why not get the y splitters and have twice the light.

i dont use cfls just my 2 cents, and i thought they put off better light on a horizontal mount ?

thanks for the feedback guys... i still need to make a reflector of some sort for the cfl's... this is only a veg cabinet, i'm planning on getting maybe around 8" - 10" tall then sticking them under my hps... i'm slow on getting the closet build right now but will hopefully have that setup before these little guys get too big

hes got 23800 lumens if hes got the standard 1700 lumens per 23w CFL. That is plenty of power especially for veggin.

i do agree that you need a reflective hood and/or horizontal mount those bad boys.

I will prolly be hitting you up for a time frame from seed to 10-12" tall since this is basically the next setup i will be using. only less plants.

gl and lookin good.

if i were you i would keep it this way for veg and for flower i would get y splitters and use two different spectrums of light. I would also make like two rows of reflectors for the CFLs. If you do some good LST from early stage you can make a nige spiral of your stem around the pot and have a nice canopy of buds

i agree with piff keep the setup. get some 2700k bulbs (red light) and with lst you'll have a very good possiblilty of a great yield in a small setup.

and i'm off a lil on the lumens... 26w CFLs have 1700lumens not exactly sure what 23w ones are ... not much less i'm sure and you still have plenty of light power.

gl and keep us updated.

You think you have enough light? j/k..lmao kinda reminds me of mine, I'm using 18 26w and 7 23's, witch are 1600 lumens btw, .. I used softwites for veg and am now flowering with them, very nice job on that fixture, also you probably got enough light for veg and flower as you aren't growing large plants.

If interested check out my ghetto grow,

thats some pretty smooth work. the only thing i could think of to help was bigmikes idea with the y's. im anxious to see your flower room and of course your final result.

thanks for all the comments guys..... humboldt, i thought i had alot of cfls! haha thats a nice setup you have... thats more room than i have and those plants are looking excellent for a cfl grow, if mine turn out anywhere close to yours i'll be more than happy, this is my first indoor grow so i'm still learning on how to make it better. i agree with everyone 100% about some y splitters to add more light but i think it will cause too many problems with heat.. i'm running around 80' right now so i think i'll just get some more for side lighting untill i can get a bigger space

will it really make a big difference mounting the cfls like humboldt has (horiz rather than vertical like i have) ??? i think i will let these babies go like how the lights are then before starting another set i will switch them around if it will make that big of a diff

thanks guys....

I am surprised no one is really reading this. This is a veg cabinet only. A HPS will be used for flowering. Mounting light bulbs horizantal has been know to produce better light than vertical bulbs (in and overhead lighting system). You definatley have enough light to take those plants all the way to your 10" mark and past. Temps might be a problem during hot summer days but it seems you are well prepared for that with the lights truning off when it gets over 90*. Good luck. Post some pics of the flower room when you get that set-up. What size light do you plan on using for flower?
