Stealth Grow - Guitar Amp

Hey, new to the site. I was inspired by the PC boxes shown to me by dopewear, and decided to set up a guitar amp.

I found a used amp with no speakers for cheap on craigslist. I posted an ad saying I wanted one for a prop for a play.

The amp is a good size, inside its a little over 2 feet wide.

Opened up, no speakers. Plan to put all electronics in upper chasis.

Gutted it. Won't be needing these ^

Thanks for the supplies Rona and Best Buy!

Mounted to exhaust fans on the inner top of the cabinet.

Cut my finger making room for the fans. Ouch. I think you can see blood drops behind.

Made a baffle for the intake fans, painted it black to help hide it.

Fans ready to go.

Used the power jack off the back of the amp to keep it looking normal. Power runs through the original switch (used as the master) and spliced into a power bar.

Two 18" florescent light fixtures mounted in the upper part, protruding below.

IMG0007950.jpg

Two 12V DC adapters, one for intake and one for the exhaust. These adapters are variable between 3 and 12 volts, I have them set to 6V.

Here she is in all her glory.

Close up of timer with power bars, cords, lights and fan.

From the outside when turned on. I will be adding filters to the fans to help block the light and smell.

From behind, turned off. Looking completely stock.

You wouldn't guess it, would you?

So that's it, my first project. I still need to find the proper light bulbs. Can anyone help me out with what kind I need? They are 18" tubes, 120V. Also need to install thermometer.

Cheers :peace:

PS - Apologies for poor picture quality, all done on camera phone cause I'm too lazy.

my cuz you never stop outdoing yourself! tight setup though like i said find the bulbs before you go mounting those fixtures you nut! anyways ill come over and we will think of a way to hide the light coming out from the speaker grills. over all nice build +rep for being the first guitar amp build! ive subscribed and ill be delivering your seeds very soon:D

Damn! I thought i was the only one that thought of growing in an amp. Mine's all ready to go it just needs to be light-proof. Everything i do is making the temps skyrocket, but hopefully this will work: https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/169076-light-proof-intake-how-w.html

You should use that design, and have the opening for your exhaust be at the top and the opening at the bottom for intake. The way you have it now, air is just being sucked in and pulled out immediately without cooling very much....

gee cuz sounds like im not the only one whos told you that now lol:dunce:

Thanks for all the positive comments errybody.
thanks for intake advice, i'll look into that one. and the amps a good idea beginningbot... great minds think alike eh?
inner dimensions are (LxWxH) 21x11x18
just starting plans for growing now, still a noob. dopewear's helping me out with them a lot (thanks cuz!) as for the future, moving away in the summer, may be forced to sell this baby :(

hey ncie job on putting that randall to good use....
better to have plants growing in it than randall tones coming out!!!

seriously, nice conversion. good luck on our grow.

Hay man can u actually grow and harvest a plant in that size box? What seeds u using and where u buy ur seeds from?

of course you can in a case that size theres many of us who do it in a pc case. hes growing a strain called 'asshole' from the wild rose seed company. they were bought from the vancity seed bank. they are 10th generation indica that grow between 2'-3.5' tall but with LST there should be no problem fitting it in there.

What would you say was the best strain to grow outdoors in the cold? im in scotland and want something that will be able to be planted outside and left (can germenate indoors first) would like the fastest budding plant and strong if poss lol.

im not sure how old this is or whatever, but the pics are all gone...is it possible to have them reloaded...im interested in doing this at the moment.

Can't believe I missed this!

This is the kind of stuff we need to see more of around here, people who do an excellent job on their grow space, no matter how big or small they may be!
