Bad news on the box... the 2 fans that i had blowing hot air from the lights up top, down where the exhaust fan could blow it out, died on me lastnight ( NOT the intake or exhaust ). After examining everything and breaking one of the fans open my conclusion is that the heat just at the lights ( on the first shelf its running at 82 degree F ) melted some solder in the fans and in the cellphone chargers i had powering them. Well my solution to this was order 2x 4.5" ecoplus axial fans offline they are AC fans with plugs that move 112 CFM. I chose these fans because it is the same brand ( just 4.5" instead of 6" ) that i am using for my intake and exhaust and those fans move mad air, are quiet, they also feel heavy and of great quality. This will put the box at 694 total CFM now, will post pics in 5-7 business days when they get here.

If you look at the pictures you will see what fans and cellphone chargers i am talking about.

im really surprised no one has said anything but... you should flip the lights around so they are not point down but across.. like the long side of the bulb should face the plant.

I understand that but when i had them configured that way i could only fit 8 bulbs instead of 12 so i figured this was the way to go... In the photos you can see one other ways i tried with the 8 horizontal bulbs, had different timers plugs shelf's ect. but i tore it all apart and started over and this is what i got. Even now i have to replace those fans up top... Eventually i will get it right!

I think the fact that you have 12 bulbs right there should be enough, especially with that glass there. You can put the plants all the way up to the lights with the glass there, no fear of burning leaves. Like they can literally be touching the glass and you'll be fine. +rep for cleanliness.

Thanks for the rep man, i really like the glass too because it helps keep the heat separated from the growing area as well. Only down side is i did kill the cheap fans i had at the top with that heat as i mentioned a few hours ago in a post; but no need to fear i have ordered bigger, stronger, and more manly fans! drive fast UPS i am too cheap to get expedited shipping

does that glass between the plants and CFLs protect them from the heat when they get really close? your setup is looking really damn good!

edit: are both plants in the same pot? cus that doesnt usually turn out too nicely..

Yeah the glass is there so when the plants get larger they can grow all the way to the top and touch the glass and not burn where as the bulbs would burn the plants. the glass also helps keep the grow area cooler and trap some of the heat up in the light compartment but i do have 2 fans and a slit in the middle of the glass so that i can extract that heat out of the light cavity as to not cause damage to the lights. thanks for looking man

I ordered 2 new 4.5" ecoplus axial fans i really like this brand it matches the intake and exhaust fans i already have. These are replacements for the cheap ones i originally had at the top cooling off the lights that died on me.The old ones moved 70 cfm the new ones 112. I used 1 inch spacers and some 3" screws to mount them on the wall near the lights. The airflow is much better temps are better and im much happier now. lets hope nothing else breaks on this first run!

you should move your plants a lil closer to the light and/or try and get those bulbs horizontal.
the plants are with in 4" of the lights and will burn if i get them any closer and if i made the bulbs horizontal you realize they wouldnt all fit right? vertical bulbs equaling 286 watts is better than horizontal bulb equaling 184 watts which is all that fits while horizontal not enough surface area on the top of the box...
