Starting Summer Grow - Need Input / Help!

Hey everyone, this year I decided to try something new. I have a great location in a foresty/field, and it is in an open area (not very shaded, but still isolated), right by a tiny creek. I was planning on digging out a nice area to grow around 10-15 plants, and filling it with soil. Is this the best route? Is it better to make a large patch of soil and grow directly in there? Or would it be better to get each plant in individual 5 gal buckets? Also, whichever way I do it, what soil should I use for outdoor growing? Should I still use foxfarm's oceans forest? I have perlite at home as well already. If someone could tell me what the best way to grow outdoors in a field is, I would greatly appreciate it. Anyone with any common knowledge feel free to give me your input, I love researching and knowing everything and anything, especially about this topic :) ... I live in the NE (telling you for weather purposes). Thanks to everyone who decides to jump in!
