Starting it off with Bubbleponics! Some ???'s

I have some questions for the experienced. But first, ...let me give you some info. on what Ive got. I'll be posting pics, and updates for my grow, along the way.

Me and a friend decided we're going to grow some good pot. Stuff around here is $120-150 an 1/8. He has some experience, growing swag in soil. He's pretty oldschool, though, with no meters, and home depot nutes.

Since Ive found this site, Ive been reading,.. and collecting materials. Bubbleponics makes good sense. Ive built a secret 5'X12'x6.5' grow room (007 type secret room), with heat/ac, carbon filtered ventilation system, fully insulated, and wrapped in mylar. Im proud!

Construction:

Im putting together two 30gal totes, ...each with two aquarium air pumps, two 12" air stones, and a 130 gph water pump. Theyre will be eight 5" net pots in each tote.

Medium:

I ordered 98ea. 1.51.5" rockwool cubes, 20lbs. of Hydroton, 25ea. 5" net pots.

Is this enough Hydroton for a couple grows?

Nutes:

1 quart ea. of Fox Farm Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom

Sound like a good choice? And, ...How long will this last?

Meters:

HM COM-100 tds/ec/temp meter

HM PH-200 ph/temp meter

I have a thermometer/hygrometer that tells me the min/max of the room, where it's mounted on the wall, ...as well as right at the plants level.

Im also going to add a humidifier and a dehumidifier to the room, once things get going a bit.

Lights:

I have one,... and am about to order another light kit. It consists of a 600w digital Lumatek ballast (currently already being sent back for warranty), a NICE Hydropharm hood with 6" ports, and came with Plantmax MH and HPS lamps.

I also have a 2 bulb, fourescent shop light fixture for each end of the totes (4 fixtures total, with eight 32w T-8 bulbs). Half of the bulbs are "warm", the others are "cool". I figure the plants couple use some side lighting. All lights are on timers, of course.

I want to produce a high yeild crop, with a plant maybe a little forgiving, for my first grow? I want as much GOOD bud, as possible.

What strains should I consider, with what I have? Ive looked on Attitude, and its overwhelming the selection of seeds to choose from.

Sounds like you two have been readen up !! Way to do it !! For your first shot why not try "sog" sea of green it's easy and you can harvest more than once . Check out the tutorial by Roseman here or search for sog.. Good luck can't wait to see some pics ..

Thanks for the responses, so far. Im REALLY excited to get this stuff going.

Im planning on using some good bag seed that my friend has collected over the last year or so. I wont know the strain, but it should be good stuff.

After that, Im going to make an order with Attitude. I need some strains that are relativly easy to grow, and that produces a high yeild. Can anyone make a suggestion on what to grow?

I also need to know about how long these nutes will last. I know that it's so many teaspoons to so many gallons. If I have 50gal of water between the two totes, and I change the water once a week. How long should they last? Something like 8 weeks? Or something like 6 months?

Go to the fox farm website and download their feeding schedules. Calculate from there. Frankly, I think the goal of a first grow should be learning to yield. I think you learn more by keeping it simple. I'd advise you to start with a 10 gal tote and 4 plants. And lose the water pump and feeder tubes per the link below.

Also check out "technaflora" they have a product called "recipe for success" a complete line of nutes that are easy to use these can be had on e-bay or amazon. I'm going to order as soon as I use up what I've got . And look around here for some real nice hydro diy setups you can save a good bit. save your money for a good light set up !

So I should get rid of my pumps, and not use them? And then go get a 10 tote? Ive got over $1000 in lights, and another $1000 in my grow room. That would seem like a waste.
