Started 50 seeds ended with 1 female plant

Ive come up with a system, light umols, ppms and co2 ppms can all rise at an even level. As well as nutes. Co2 is my weak point
My room is tighter than a nuns ass—-, which is why I considered the ‘oxygen’ issue. But I think Herb and Suds probably nailed. A preference for vigorous growth may have led me to ALL males. Crazy, but ya live ya learn. First time indoor in a while I guess

I question the interpretation of seedlings being “retarded”?
What does that even mean?
Unusual early formation or slow growth compared to males is no reason to cull
I never cull anything till I flip it
I think you tossed a bunch of girls based on male growth
Such a waste
Beat me to it. I actually see a lot of ppl making this claim "the seedling was retarded/wonky/whatever", if you don't give it a chance to mature how do you know what it is or isn't?? For me, every plant so far, that has exhibited any "weirdness" while young, has been pretty remarkable in flower.

If gassing in light and dark is all on you, fresh air for dark cycle. Propigate in basement highest co2 in house. Give co2 after plants start to grow but be careful bc roots need o2 when plant uptake co2, small fan blowing up from floor should help. How much co2 for seedlings? 400 ambient more than enough. In flower you pump up, big veg maybe 600 to 800ppm depending on size, retarded seedling were trying to compensate for co2 levels. Btw not trying to be dick. Just trying to help.
When you starting your grow journal?

Admittedly, I’ve been out of the indoor game for several years. I’ve been growing outdoors for the last decade + , and have had no need for indoor. But situations have changed and I set up a sealed cO2 room, 10x8 with 2k of air cooled DE HPS lights, Using 15 gallon air pots and 900 ppm CO2 for veg. Growing in SubCools SuperSoil. After starting 5 packs and sorting through the retarded seedlings, pulling males and herms as thy showed up, I was left with 10 plants to grow. As time went on, all Hermied or turned out to be male.
What is going on??? Am I doing something wrong??? I feel like it’s a conspiracy! I’ve been growing for 25 years and never had this problem.
Everyone has been growing for 25 years. It's so weird.

Grower error.
I really question if this could be grower error.

I have no idea how this could be achieved either by error or intentionally.

If I gave a seasoned veteran 50 random seeds and said try to do everything wrong so you can produce 98% males....could anyone accomplish this?

Only if he removed them based on appearance
Which is what the op did
Unless he was removing plants that he thought were male or hermie but were actually female....if not, then he had 98% males/hermies

So maybe that's a possible explanation....he was actually terminating plants that were in fact females in the making

.....or, he's the most unlucky grower in the history of marijuana

Actually I think that might have been John Sinclair :peace:

That's insane. Gotta be environmental or grower error at that percentage/ratio.
Though I will say the only time I ever bought a pack of Archive seeds I got 1 female out of 10.
Couple non sprouts and the rest males.
Never bought their stuff again.

I caved and just paid for SMFs GMO and Deadhead OG clones and called it a day. Done with the pheno hunts for now

You originally stated you were not a newbie. I really doubt you made a cannabis torture chamber. I might he the seeds. With hemp being grown on large scale the seeds could be crossed with wind blown, auto or fem- hemp seed. Less likely. More likely is the seeds are sold under a brand or breeder without proper vetting. I bought a lot of "feminized" seeds from the douche Gu at Greenpoint seeds. Sent him pics of true males in my fem seed order. Turns out he was consignment selling another breeders seeds, which were never tested. They offered a credit or refund to me, but I lost all faith in that company and got my money back.

How old were these plants before you started pulling them? Are you sure you were pulling males? Were they showing male parts when you culled them? Is it possible that the methodology you used for identifying males was flawed?

I think what Buds and Suds said was probably correct. That I was culling slow starters and narrowing in on a group of 10 plants to grow out… which all turned out to be male. Due, a lot, to my selection process. Selecting for seedling vigor in a group of about 40.

I grow almost exclusively from seed and from my experience seed vigor as you call it is not always representative of which plant is going to end up being the most vigorous. Sometimes the runt of the batch is slow to grow but can end up passing other seedlings that seemed more vigorous in the beginning. I would not use seed vigor as a determining factor for culling plants.

Weak retarded seedlings rarely become stars. Its another sign of poor genetics IMO. Research and talk to the breeders, if can to sniff out bullshit. Seeds here now is just a resale site. Not direct from breeder. Nor even made by the breeder.
Ive made crosses that all the seedlings were weak, or deformed in ways, lacked vigor to others started at same time. I just trash em and feed the seed to birds. But ive always got extras.
