Staggered Harvest. Efficient or Waste of Time?

An older post was dug up from the Harvest Board about 'Staggered Harvest'. I wanted find out more from people who practice this technique. I know Ive read in other posts Uncle Ben is a strong believer.
Basically you chop your colas and drop the lights down to let the popcorn buds further down ripen into nice buds.

If you put your next plants into flower that were vegging from clones instead of waiting 3 weeks to finish the lower buds. The math is easy enough to figure out if its worth it. How much do you get the first harvest, and how much the second? How long did it take to flower total?

If it took 9 weeks to flower, then 3 weeks is a third of that time. Did you get a third more the second harvest? Then your kinda breaking even. Could even use the popcorn for hash or cooking and throw the next batch of clones in instead of doing the staggered harvest.
 
Yeah, I do double harvests and posted "my technique" years ago. It's not an issue of time and production for me or I wouldn't bother to grow sativas indoors. My income does not depend on selling pot. It's a quality issue, a method of getting the most out of the plant, tweaking your harvest to "pick" the produce when it's at its point of "perfection".
 
well i was planning on trying that over the next two weeks , real glad u do it ben, means i'm not a complete idiot( although the jury may be out on that). so do i just cut the main cola and drop the lights for , say , another week or so? any particular feeding/watering or technique to it?

In my experiance stagered grows are not chopping the main cola's of and dropping the lights.If you are haveing to do this then i would advice lollypoping the plants and flowering alot smaller say 7 ince.By doing this the plants recive the most light and there is no fluffy buds on the bottom.A stagered grow to me is when you have one set of plants at 2 week of flowering one at 4/6/8 if you grow 8 plants and have a good set of clones and a decent cloneing room then the plants should come out of the cloneing room at near enouth the flowering size.And you should have at least 30 grm a week to smoke.I have been growing in this way since i very first started growing and have always had good yeilds the least thatyou will get is a ounce if the plants are grown right.You will also need good air flow too a good ossalateing fan to move the air around the room.I live in a place where people live upstairs and i don't want no smell so i have 2 carbon filters on all the time.This can effect the humidity so i will have a small tub of water in the room that can be evaperated into the plants though the heat of the lights.But this may not be nessessary if you water alot but i only water once a week so i put the water in the room about day 5 when the plants are starting to dry a little.Watering once a week has been one of the main improvements that i have learnt over the years.Letting the plants dry goes in your favour because it helps your plants get a great root mass has the dry plants search out water that is not there till you add it.Hope this will help anyone gain that little extra weed and stamp out the illegal immagrants that are selling the british people gritty shitty weed.........................................................tyke.....................................................................................

fuckin rite tyke with the quality of weed mate, not being racist but the vietnamese and chinese growers/suppliers over here are pure and simple bandits spraying all sortsa shit on the weed to up the weight. grow your own and send these turds home.
