spraying the leaves

me and my friend been having heated arguments about spraying fine mist over the leaves,he says NEVER to do it due to leaf burn, fair enough.last night when my lights went out,i opened the tent door slightly and gave the whole lot a slight misting of spray, not a lot just a little.i water my plants with about 1 litre of water every 3 days with a touch of nuets.anyway, when i woke this morning to water them properly because it was watering day,i opened the tent before the light came on and wow they were stinking!all good i may add! i cant see this doing any harm but i wonder what other people on here think because i respect the posters experience on this site.

Sop spraying the leaves. The only time ya spray leaves is to wash the dust off them or to treat them with a spray. They always stink.

you can spray your whole plant safely just be sure and do it right after the lights come on.Doing this befor dark can cause mold to grow on the leaves.I spray the shit out of mine everyday and nobody here will convince me not to.It's done proven it's self to me.Spray my friend!

What has the spraying done for you? How have yo benefited from it?

Actually an experienced gardener can benefit by foliar feeding

look here
http://foliarfeed.net/default.aspx

by experienced I mean never over/under waters, never over nutes, has near perfect enviroment etc.

nutrient uptake is proven to increase with foliar feeding

We tell folks not to because most are not experienced, have no idea when or how to do it properly.

I dont think there's any benefit really. They only absorb water through the roots and maybe a little in the stem, but the leaves have pores that bring in CO2 and release oxygen and spraying water may clog the pore temporarily and prevent that area from performing photosynthesis. So I would think that it'll be better not too

I am with you. Of course there is a use/benefit for spraying the leaves. These guys are talking about spraying leaves all the time with water.

what about if you were using epsom salt. not just water. anyone know a good ratio to mix??

i foliar spray if my plants are cupping or look moisture stressed due to my low humidity. apart frm that i tend not to.

Don't do Epsom Salts in a Foliar feed, you will end up with dried salt on your leaves

better to buy a good soil and prep it with Dolomite Lime to avoid Mag/ca def's or go hydro

my bro and I were talking on the phone today and he said he has been spraying selltzer water on the leafs/ says she loves it?I said mix some super thrive in the mist and see how that goes?

if i ever foiler feed, i bring my plants away from the light abit to let the water dry off nicly without letting it burn on the leaves.
and by misting water over the plant if humidity is low it increases it, but when there are buds and water there is fungi

how do i know when a nutrient solution is or isn't ok to spray mixed w/ water for foliar feeding? i'm using a SMG indoor plant formula NPK 8-7-6. could i use it in foliar feed?

Go to Google search for Foliar Feeding Garden and lurk in regular garden forums to get "tea" recipies from experienced gardeners

there are so many and as always don't over do! :weed:

that's nice but sounds like an assload of work. i'm wondering if it's safe to spray a simple diluted miracle grow on my indica's leaves. . .

Assload of work = knowledge :weed:

with that said, your npk of the MG is light so I would say mix 1/4 tsp to one gallon, don't spray with lights on, either during lights out or take her out of the room, water droplets can act as magnifiers and burn leaves

funny thing RiddleMe---Super thrive says on the bottle with a guarantee double money back OK to spray on leaves? I have had no problem with burnt leaves? But I pour the water and Thrive right over the top of clones and they seem to Perk up real well???
