Spinach and lettuce with hydro? And or soil?

Hello all. Just wanted to gather some info on growing types of lettuce and spinach. The things I am curious about is bubble rock vs circulation for spinach/lettuce and your opinion on hydro vs soil for spinach/lettuce. I would imagine the lighting will be T12 due to the space (a few 6ft strips on a wall). Anyone ever done either, indoor?

I haven't done this, so I can't offer any first hand experience, but I've watched a lot of YouTube videos of people doing just what you're describing. Might be worth your while to check some out.

People have grown lettuce in a product called AeroGarden. It has 1 air stone and 2 to 3 26w 6500K lights and about a 3L res. IMO you might need more then just that 1 air stone that they use. These days I pretty much only grow in a DWC setup over soil.

Nft is how I have done it. I made a 160 spot lettice and use all my used hydro water or grow it. It loves hydro easy to grow still need to be flushed. Oh ya and 160 heads is I little excessive I think I could only eat/give away 10 it was enough lettuce to fill a small truck. Fun and fast

Got a question for you since this falls under lettuce kind of thing. Do you know have to grow lettuce with out using soil or any kind of starting mediums? I want to get a small lettuce thing setup where it doesn't require to be started in any mediums.

You mean suspended in mid air? Try aeroponics. I've no experience in aeroponics but my guess is that the seed will not germinate in air alone, unless treated with an iron sulfate or gibberellic acid solution.

No I meen not using soil or rockwool or rapid rooting plugs or any thing like that. I know that hydro farms use some kind of method to grow their lettuce on but not sure how they do it and how they start the seeds.

Production greens are commonly done in ponds on Styrofoam. There are a few ponds with different ppm the plants go through the pond like a lazy river so everyday plants start and everyday harvest. Cool shit, everydays plants are separated by a divider and pushed ahead everyday. As the plant matures the Styrofoam is cut apart so the plant has room to fully mature. River of weeden??? Think about it

So scaling it down you need a large air pump three shallow totes and air stone tank one for first- two weeks with low ppm second- high ppm 4-5 weeks third - 1-2 low ppm + sweaters = dank greens
