I have arachnophobia so spiders are a hell no for me, but typical garden spiders will help with bugs up to a point. When they get hungry, they will leave the grow area for other parts of the house. Again for me, NO WAY! I can't even eat sea food crab because it is a giant spider to me.
If you have too many in there, you may run into a web problem on your plants.
The look alike lady bugs aka Japanese beetle. Those fookers bite while true lady bugs do not.

aslong as they are not harming the plants i wouldnt worry to much about it. I wouldnt hold back from smashing one either if i saw it.
