Spider farmer SF-4000 appears to be a fire hazard.

I really don't want one of their shitty replacement units. The purpose of this thread is to inform other owners of spider farmer branded lights there is a fire hazard risk with their units. They didn't just change the assembly line for the unit they sold me. That means there are many others like it out there with the same potential for a melting PCB causing a subsequent fire. I just have to remind myself you've got down syndrome or something. That's the only way I can make any sense outta you.

My POV, I do not think a heatsink thickness, would cause your problem.
More towards a electric heat power surge / bad solder joint etc.

I have 2 SF 4000 from 2019 from the E-bay store USA.
Board thickness is using a Mitutoyo Absolute Digimatic Caliper:

0.1180 inches / 3.00 mm.

It is not cost effective for production to have 2 different
heatsinks, have you ever seen this as an option?

My micrometer is a digital Napa supplied cheapie for measuring rotors and such. By no means is this thing a scientific instrument. You have a much more precise instrument. I'm sure your measurement is correct. It really bends me sideways that this issue is occurring because I've recommended spider farmer since I got this thing. While I find a better value on alibaba these days I always told people who prefer to order state side that they're the best value unit out there. I just feel a little fleeced I suppose. Not to mention a little concerned that I jeopardized my family's safety with a potential fire in my flower room. Temperatures are a stable 78-82 continuously in my flower room, so environmental heat is not a likely cause. I think you're sniffer is on the right track there. A bad solder joint in which electric meets significant resistance to pass through would generate an excessive amount of heat, right? You know what this feels like to me? It's like meeting a nice girl. She seems sweet. Says all the right things. You take her home and slap those titties around a bit. Introduce her to your friends the next weekend to show off your new piece. Then you find out every one of them fucked her, and you've got chlamydia. Sir, I feel like spider farmer was a nice sweet girl. She took my trust. She took my money. She took my time. And now I have fucking chlamydia and I'm horribly embarrassed for my decision making and misplaced trust. What can I say? I'm an emotional fucking person :)

Anybody got some penicillin? Maybe spider farmer can next day ship me some, but I'd worry the fucking bottle would catch fire.

Unfortunately, it is impossible for a company to have a
a fixture that is 100% for their life time. There will
be some failure rate. It is not perfect world scenario.

I purchased my SF 4000 before knowing about RIU,
since being on here I have found only one other member
who posted about his Commercial run with several SF 4000
and I asked just what failed? I never received a reply
nor has he ever posted again that I know of.

So now you are #2 unless more members post a failure

That's not to bad, how many HLG or other LED manufactures
fixtures have failed under warranty for members, just curious?

My problem isn't with equipment failure. My problem is with equipment failure resulting in a fire hazard. I've heard of plenty of hlg owners having a row of lights go out. They get a board overnighted to them the next day. However, I have never heard of any PCB's melting on any qb from any manufacturer. That was my first and only sf branded unit. And it will be my last. Alibaba units are chugging along without issue. And if one of them ever had a PCB melting I'd never order another item from the platform.

Did the fixture cause a fire?

I do not blame you for posting your failure,
it will be good info to know as to just what caused the failure
and what kind of customer service / warranty support you get.
What was the purchase date of the fixture?

Let's see what SF Support has to say.

The fixture did not cause a fire. However, had I not been taking comparison photos of the alibaba boards and the spider farmer board I'd have never noticed. That damage would have continued as long as power was supplied. Eventually the heat and resistance would have melted the PCB. Burn down the house? Who knows? We all know what 1 cigarette butt can do in a forest. Date of purchase 7/15/20. Not even a year ago. I will post their response.

I’ve been running 6 spider Farmer sf4000’s for over a year have had 1 problem with a dimmer switch I contacted support @spiderfarmer.com explained my issue and they got right on it I was really impressed with their service within 3 days and engineer contacted me scheduled appointment and couple days later he was at my house switched out the dimmer at no cost to me.
