Spectra Led 120. Stealth Cabinet, Scrog, Flowering has begun.

Here is a link to my Spectra 120 grow journal. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/493389-mini-scrog-glh-spectra-120-a.html

I hit the flowering mark and the cabinet is filling up very quickly.

The strain is Nirvana AK 48, which i have decent experience with but dont really like, not quite sure what phenotype this will be, but they are mostly the same in my experience. Nothing looks new here.

Nutrients are a combination of "old one" (semi-organic), compost teas, floralisicious plus, green fuze, and dyna-gro for veg nutes. Cal/mg as needed. Soil is Roots Organic, approx 3-4 gallon container equivalent. The cabinet was bought at home-depot as was the screen. The screen is a basket drawer cut to fit (perfect size i might add) and cost was about 13$. Ventilation is handled by a pair of PC fans, one intake at the bottom, one exhaust at the top. Temps never get past 80 and sit usually around 73. Night temps get down to mid 50s, so that may need to be addressed.

This grow is a full cycle test of the GLH Spectra 120 light (180w draw 2010 model). The cabinet is small (at about 35 inches tall) and covers the footprint well.

I am hoping for 4-5 OZ total, but that surely would be my best harvest to date (for this wattage). Likely i will end with 3 or so. This being my first scrog, if things get too crowded i will move the plant, but it will still be only under this light as i really want to test this light for myself.

Here are a couple pics to show the users in this forum what i am doing, i will update this thread as well if it receives more traffic. These pics are the most recent i have, taken today.

Sounds good, I am really making an effort to be more involved with my journals and update more. If anyone has questions or picture requests at any point I macro a pretty good bud.

subbed in! my first grow was an AK48 under a blackstar 240w, ended up with right about 3 zips... was a really potent smoke, with a nice sativa high, but I was not a fan of the flavor

Yeah I really don't care for the flavor or the smell, though after two months my first aks are finally smelling alright.

Thanks for the interest, I will update this thread as well since there seems to be decent interest. Today marks one week of flowering, so I will throw up some pics even though not much has changed. I does look like my girl wants some magnesium, I run filtered tap water, so its possible I am filtering out sme mag. My water goes from 180s to 140s from the filter.

Well i promised a one week update, but alas the lights were out by the time i got home. So tomorrow it will be.

In the meanwhile let me introduce you to another Ak48...

It is a bonsai clone! It is around two months old, and very solidly rooted. She was taken from a flowering plant at harvest time, so roughly 8 weeks into 12/12, showed roots in the same 5 days all my clones take (love the bubble system) It does not grow much, in this shot you can see a new young shoot coming forward, i may pinch that off if it looks unsightly. It barely drinks at all, and smells very nice when you get in close. I plan to transplant it into a more aesthetically pleasing pot/scenery and having a real run at bonsai mini bud.

Real pics tomorrow!

So the plants are looking good, all the tops are pretty even really, only a few are stretching ahead. In general its pretty even. i expect one or two more weeks of stretch for this strain then the real pics will be coming in.

I am going away for 4-5 days for the holidays, i can still update and talk, but no pics.

A fun game to play, although quite a ways away, is guess the yield! For whoever the winner is i will mail a prize, not sure yet what it will be, but it will be good :)

Just got back home from vacation, and the plants look great! they have, of course, stretched a little but they seem to be slowing down which is good because i dont have a whole lot of headroom to spare. I can see the bud-sites forming and hair production is up. I will post pics on Friday for an official 2 week update!

As i said earlier, these girls were showing their junk early and ready to go, so i believe the transition into flower was a quick one and should help speed up the harvest date. The total veg time is unknown, but it was a decent time. It took very little time to fill the screen though. Much of the early life was in a nutrient deprived state, only minimal growth really.

Ok so Wednesday was actually the two week mark. So here are the shots to update you all. As you can see, there are tiny little buds starting everywhere, its very fun to see. after this shot i super-cropped two of the tallest colas and pruned off a little undergrowth and a few larger fan leaves up top to help with light penetration.

All nutrient deficiencies have been sorted, and the leaves are looking pretty good, still a little burnt on the tips, but that cant really be reversed just stopped.

I was thinking of putting in a Co2 pad, bottle, or yeast thing, but i have no floor space and the air is forced in the bottom and out the top so im sure i would lose Co2 too fast.

Ok no more stalling, here are the pictures.

Well, there she is. In all her glory :)

I will be holding a "guess the yield" contest. I am thinking the prize will be some very nice seeds from an anonymous third party. I still have to clear this with a mod, but i think its alright. I will have official contest rules and all at around week 4-5.

clear out that canopy so you get a fat yeild
I would like to very much, but i hear conflicting reports of defoliation during the first few weeks in flower. Some reports suggest that the plant will stretch more(which i cant afford) while others suggest it will reduce yield notably. I have done a little tucking and pruning of above and below bud-sites and fan leaves, but i am waiting until the stretch is 100% stopped before i get too far into leaf removal.

If anyone has first hand experience and can confidently say the above is BS, im always open to suggestion.

Thanks! Next feeding i think i might up the veg nutes a tad, the camera makes it look much worse, but irl there is still a little more yellow tone than i would like. Just fine tuning now.

Thanks for stopping by

my buds were quite crowded too and I didnt want to hurt my plants anymore.. so I just let my scrog go 20 days after 12/12 and the buds are developing just fine... I was worry that it would be too thick but it worked out great

One of these days i will set some real time aside and tuck all the leaves i can and pull some bud shoots up through the screen more. As it stands i have about 15-20 real budsites and about 10 secondary, and a handful of potentials.

Im very excited to see how well this yields :)

the buds I have under my screen are doing fine, I had cut everything below the screen early on but whatever made it is doing fine,... the lower buds have more brown hairs!? anyway, since it's your first grow and everything looks really good I wouldnt worry about chopping anything, just let nature do it's thing from now... most of those lower buds will be really nice anyway and the ones that are underdeveloped you can still make hash with them or water cure them. looking good, I know the feeling about yields, I can't wait to see my yield as well,... it's going to be from 3 plants that looked like yours at some point!! good luck!

Lookin good brother man! I wish i could speed things up, growing was getting boring to me for sure, kind-of redundant, the scrog takes care of that! Not to mention this grow is much more accessible, so its easier to just open a door and poke my head in, very fulfilling.

But anyway, its not my first grow at all, i have been continually harvesting for about a year now with a few failed attempts prior to that. I have been soil for a very long time now, but do have a rainforest 66 setup going with some Aurora Indica. Not too happy with this strain so far. i have two healthy ones, one that has had poor root development, and one that self topped and stunted itself horribly. Im about to cull the two weak ones and make legal room for some Sannie's Seeds Killing Fields, im finally stepping up to the more "respected" strains.

Yours are looking great, i bet you cant wait to kill em :p
