Well this has happened in under 48 hours and under room temperature. I noticed freddie was due to pop last night before I went to bed. Thought she'd (fingers crossed) be fine for 7 hours.

At least it'll survive.

Looks like freddie will be the first to pop it's head above surface, which is not surprising considering it jumped clean out of the seed casing. Delicate task planting that, I can tell you. I suppose I'll soon see if any damage happened during this delicate process.

tap, tap, tap...

jillybean is Orange Velvet x Space queen...

your take on the SQ makes me wanna run em. Gotta wait awhile..but i will...

Yeah, I knew there was orange in there somewhere. Subcools strains are quite expensive. I'm a believer that good things cost money. If you want quality you have to pay for it. This is why, the first time I started growing, my very first crop I wanted quality seeds. I bought JTR, Vortex, and Space Queen. I fucked up the crop, didn't pick a mom and lost the strain. Got a successful crop though. but then it was gone. My favourite of all 3 was the space queen, so I'm very happy to have it back. This time, so long as there's a viable mom, I won't lose the strain.

BTW, 3 out of 4 have broken the surface. Freddie, Bryan and Roger.

In human babies the head must come out first. With cannabis seed it is the opposite way round. Imagine my amazement then when I discover that roger has come out head first. The little tail still stuck in the shell.

After getting over my initial shock, i realised that I had to act. It was down to me to perform this delicate operation. I grabbed the first thing to hand, a biro, and went to seperate the tail from the shell.

I gently crushed the shell with my thumb and forefinger while using the biro to shift away the pieces. After the shell was removed entirely I used the biro to lever some separation between cotelydons and the tail (as they were facing each other, almost kissing), so that I could plant it easier.

I've taken a before and after pic'. I hope my camera shows up the detail.

Actually it's not roger, it's the one i couldn't remember. So I placed a temporary question mark.

Roger seems non too clever too. It has a slightly brown stem and still has it's shell completely covering its head.

Bryan has started life with only one cotelydon. So it seems every single seed has it's own individual quirks.

Freddie jumped right out of his shell on the germination plate.

Bryan has just the one cotelydon.

Roger has a brown stem (probably won't make it).

Question mark (as I forget the 4th band members name) was a breach birth.

lol. Why can't anything ever be simple?

Freddie and Bryan are doing fine, freddie is stretching a little. Bryan seems to be holding back a little, concentrating on building a stronger stem.

John (the breach) has maybe grown a millimeter since yesterday. It's cotelydons are still tightly closed together, and it seems the little fella is struggling. I hope it pulls through, I really tried my best... it was a delicate operation for such a young sprog. Stupid little fucker.

Roger, well roger just seems fucked. It's tap root didn't take properly to the medium. I've planted it a little deeper in the hopes that it takes. Time will tell.

I've also moved them all directly under the big light. I always do this, as soon as they look like they might start stretching... BANG! straight under the light.

So that's the story so far. I'll upload pic's a little later.
