Southern Ontario - Outdoor Flowering

What’s up RIU?

Last year was my first time growing outdoors, learnt a lot along the way. Ended up with some monsters, but ran into the common issue of them finishing in time.

I understand summer solstice is June 21st. If I run a couple plants indoor 18/6 until ~mid June or so, they should transition to flower within a couple weeks no?

Contemplating on just growing out some of the Dinamex Auto beans I’ve got instead.

I live in Northern Ontario, last year was my first time as well. I have similar plans start indoors with 18/6 and put outdoors in June. They won't start to flower until after July 21st probably mid August and will finish by late Sept early October. Growing indoors under controlled lights is totally different situation then letting the Sun take over. Cheers

Im in southern ont near london. And i put my plants out early may. Most of them started budding but now they are atleast a week into revegging. Not seeing any more bud growth just new branches in the places that were previously budsites. You should be good to put them out now

I wish it worked this way but it does not. Each strain will flower after the dark hours are long enough. Some will flower when they have more than 10 hours dark, some 10.5 hours, some 11 hours, ect. All will start to flower with 12 hours darkness. Finding strains that finish before the first of Oct. is very difficult, I have been searching for many years. Auto flower will but the size and yield is not there. Oh by the way it is dependent on the latitude of the grow. I am at 47* north.

So I've done this a little different than I was planning. I set my timer to outdoor hours when I started these beans.

3 X Afghan Kush on the grow, transplanted from Solo's to 1 Gallons and put outside June 1st. They are only a few weeks old from seed right now, still babies. Supposed to be a fast finishers but I might need some sort of rain protection later in the year.

I was a little worried with the 3-5degree nights and downpour we've had this week. All sunshine the last few days though and we're seeing growth everyday. Everything looks super happy, will post pics later.

Southern Ontario here as well, and both the plants I moved outside started to shift into flower, then revegged as well. One I put out May 21st, the other June 1st. I'm really glad I've got Hindu Kush, I don't think a sativa would've survived.
Last year my neighbour started his harvest right on Oct 1st and it looked like he had a sativa dominant hybrid strain, he did heavy training and he still needed a ladder for harvest!
If I read the charts right an indica strain should start shifting into flower sometime in the first two weeks of August, so unless you have a really quick finishing strain Oct 1st is probably the earliest you can harvest.
Good thing you have indicas, they should handle the weather around here as long as you need, and the bud might even start to turn purple with the night time temps around then!
I'm hoping so, especially as this is my first outdoor grow!

I dropped one out on May 2-4 and then dropped another one out this past weekend. The one from May is just slowly chugging along due to lack of sun and a crap ton of rain. Not seeing any budding at all.
