have 8 sour diesel clones I vegged them for about 4 weeks (bought them as clones on Aug 9th 2008 put them in 5 gal. pots. they are under 1000w hps for 12 light and 12 dark. i water them every other day i use about 4-5 gallons of water and disperse the 4 gallons evenly through the 8 plants. i used foxfarm oceans forest with worm castings mixed soil. I used foxfarm nutes: big bloom, & tiger bloom, i started using nutes 6 days into flowering, because i wanted to flush, i did use a small dosage of grow big in the begining but since its my first time i didnt want to overdose the nutes. they are in a 5ft x 5ft x 6ft 7in grow hut with reflective foiling (not white walls). Temp is constantly 73F TO 77F during light hours and dark hours goes to about 64-60F (ac unit), pH is always 6.5-6.2. Any tip/hints would be very helpful! i have osculating fans and two 6in. inline exhaust (YOU CAN ONLY SEE 1 INLINE IN THE PICS) the other inline is attached to the other end of the duct spitting the hot air out of the window. inline exhaust fans and a carbon filter. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK SO FAR??? ANY TIPS OR HINT WOULD HELP ALOT! IM A 1ST TIMER. anything you would do different? ps. THEY are really STINKY! already

They are about 32-34in tall. is that normal??

NUTES DOSES I USED:
Nute dosses: tiger bloom=1/4 tsp/gal
Big Bloom=1-2 tbs/gal

i have since stopped using fox farm nutes , ever since i bought advanced nutes 2 weeks ago.

*I ALWAYS USED NUTES WITH EVERY WATERING, I FLUSHED A GALLON FOR EVERY POT about 2 weeks ago. BOUGHT SOME ADVANCED NUTRIENTS SENSI A AND B, AND BIG BUD, I WAS TOLD I SHOULD FLUSH THE FOX FARM GARBAGE NUTES, BEFORE I APPLY THE ADV. NUTES.

*I HAVE NEVER CHECKED MY PPM...IS THAT NOT SMART?

HOW MUCH LONGER FLOWERING DO YOU THINK??? THEY FEEL SUPER DENSE AND FAT!!! LOTS OF RAPID GROWTH, I CANT BELIEVE IT....

FOR MY NEXT GROW IM THINKING IM GOING TO DO GDP ? ??? AND ADD A 400WHPS

thanks mixin, i have never harvested before, so if anyone can guide me thru the curing process, i have a slight idea of the process, but need alot of tips!! i have a herb dryer i bought, i posted the pic, so the day i harvest i trim all the fan leaves and leave all the trimmed buds on the drying screens in the herb dryer and leave them for a couple days and trim them some more, then put them into mason jars???

correct me if im wrong, so cut them, trim them, then instead of hanging them to dry, i can jus place the buds in the herb dryer to dry, then into mason jars???

Hey east! Yes, since you are skipping the hanging and bagging steps by using the herb dryer. Just make sure you don't fully dry them because in order for the curing process to work they have to contain moisture.

Hi easto, first of all, great looking plants I love to see those because I have a friend that is about 4 weeks behind w/ somewhat simalar conditions. maybe not quite as good of conditions & not as good a strain as diesel probably but for the most part very similar, just 4 weeks behind. Hoping to see something like you have in your pics in a month or so :)

Anyway here's a few things i know about curing. first of all there is a difference between "curing" & "drying". Drying is just that. drying the bud, taking the moisture out of it so it can be smoked. Drying can be done w/ a dehydrator (like i believe you are talking about), an oven, a microwave or whatever. You can quickly flash dry the buds & often you lose some of the THC in doing so. Especially so in an oven i would think, maybe not as much w/ your dehydrator. But you can quickly dry the buds this way if you are just dying to smoke them as fast as possible but it usually is considered a bad way to go because you (arguably) can lose some potency, but also because the weed usually tastes very bad. My understanding is that this is because the weed is so fresh & it still is full of Chlorophyl which gives it a very "green" taste. Mostly it's not a pleasant thing. Then there is "Curing".

Curing is more than just drying the buds, it's more like a combination of drying & aging the buds. By aging the bud the flavor gets better (like a good wine). You also don't lose the potency that you do when flash drying. I have also even heard that the potency can increase while curing due to the fact that if you cut the whole plant & hang it that some of the plant processing continue to go on even after the plant has been cut from it's stalk (I certainly don't know anything about how true that is). Anyhow, to cure your weed the basic steps are to cut it first. You can cut the entire plant off @ the base, you can cut it branch by branch, or you can do it bud by bud. If you cut the whole plant you just hang it upside down in a dark dry place like a closet. If you wanna do it bud by bud, same thing but you will prolly wanna run some strings to hang the buds on. As for trimming, you cut off the big fan leaves. as for the leaves around the buds, trim them back to the same size as the bud but if they are covered in trichomes (crystals, or the dusty resinny stuff) then collect them in their own special paper bag or whatever because they will be good to smoke later on. If you don't cut these leaves back then as they dry up they can wrap around the bud & hold in moisture which you don't want & possibly even cause mold which you REALLY don't want. So hand everything in a dark dry place until the stems are brittle enough to snap. Not snap clean off, but just have a snappiness to them. @ this point (if you haven't already) you want to snip everything into individual buds & place them in Jars. Seal the Jars & check them each day. When you first seal a bud in a jar it may bounce back a little bit & get a bit more moist. If it looks like it's gotten alot more moist & could be in danger of molding then leave the lid off the jar for the rest of the day. If it's doing ok, then just open the lid of the jar for a little bit each day. Each time you open the lid you are letting moisture out & it will get a little bit dryer. Keep doing this until the buds are just how you want them. You want them dry enough to smoke & have a "ciggarette" stay lit, but not so dry that they crumble up & turn to dust. Once you have it where you want it then you can put it all together & stop opening the jars unless it is to pull out what you need. And as a general rule, the longer it stays around, the better it's going to taste. Well, up to a point anyway. By about 1 month it should be as good as it will get (I am guessing actually). But as the buds cure, the chlorophyl goes away & with it leaves the weedy, greeny, bad taste. I don't know if the chlorophyl is used up, breaks down or what happens to it, or even if it's the only factor involved in the bad taste, but well cured buds will be better tasting.

So my advice is this. First off, don't use your dehydrator to dry your herb. If you do it anyway because you just HAVE TO try it, then I say just do a small sample & keep the rest for curing, you won't regret it. Secondly, I say do some more research. Do a google search on curing marijuana or something similar & you should be able to find a few techniques & get lots of info that is much better than what i've told you. & last but not least, keep up the good work!

thanks gforce! for the info!! very helpful, yeah i just bought the herb dryer because my friend makes them and puts them on ebay, he says they cut the drying time in half, he said it cuts out all the time you spend hanging them upside down...so i will dry a couple buds in the dryer and hang the majority of the plants i guess...if anyone has any experience with herb dryers...LET me know

Dude those plants look amazing man, what your gonna wanna do is cut your plants down, then your going to cut all the trim leaves around all the buds(this will take awhile sorry :(. Then your gonna hang all the buds upside down in a completely dark room with a fan blowing on them(If you don't have a fan then the moisture might turn to Mildew, which would totally ruin your crop. you should let hang and dry for 2-3 days. After 2-3 days you can then put them into mason jars for a more thorough curing job.

i dare not venture a guess of the weight because the bud can feel hard and end up fluffy when dry. okay ill give it a try, i say bout 2 ounces per plant.

yes you can use the dryer, just make sure it doesn't get too dry before you jar it. make sure it feels very dry on the outside and is still a bit moist in the middle. see when you put it in the jar you are going to be redistributing the moisture to the rest of the bud, this is why you have to make sure not to leave it closed too long because there is always the chance of mold. but it should be fine, keep it up!
