DIESEL based strains....are strains that have a part diesel in them. SUCH AS : Sour diesel, NYC Diesel, OG Diesel, LA Diesel...etc

This may sound like a newb question but i was just curious if you had info on this i haven't heard about but by Sour Diesel being a Diesel based strain does that mean there was a strain called Diesel B4 Sour Diesel or is SD the original strain cuz thats what i thought. For instance i have 2 strains going right now called Sour Kush, is that a diesel strain. (I'm stoned so if diesel based strain was just a shortcut 4 Sour Diesel based strain i apoligize.) Pretty much was there a strain called Diesel that was crossed with another to make SD?
the numbers ended up being about 80 grams, which is pretty much three oz's.. COMPLETELY dried that is. Nugs were VERY dense and smelled amazing. especially after grinding.. kinda had a mix citrusy & skunky smell. i was very pleased, as well as others. I also found out that the clones might have been Mazar-I-Sharif.
