I have tons of gnats living in my soil and i have used soap water but doesnt seem to do anything. Does anyody know any good home remedies to get rid of these bastards.
Thanks

i gotta follow this i have the same thing dude they are with all of my grows little black flies right i have no idea where they come from even with clean room they still r on my plants too.

Neem oil or simply let your soil get dryer.I used neem oil and it kept killing them and they kept coming back.I lift my pots to feel the moisture content.when it gets really light without wilting then i water it.They eventually went away.I had to quit using the oil cause i was using a bunch with not the results i wanted.I let the soil get really dry they were gone.

Add some white vinegar to that soapy water, like 1/4 white vinegar. that should work.:peace:

mosquito dunks will kill the larvae. Sticky tape and traps will kill the adults. These will DESTROY your crop. you can get the dunks at home depot, lowes, walmart. The mosquito dunks contain BT which is a bacteria that is used in gnatrol and other gnat killers. I used a pyrethum spray bomb to kill the adults.

I seen you can get some fungus gnat predators. I have a catalog from wormsway.com ,you get 5,000 for $47.95 or 15,000 predators for $79.95.I guess it's just how bad do they really BUG you?:peace:

Listen to me! Let the pots/soil dry out. What that will do is kill the larvae of the fly. If ya have flies its a sign of over watering. Let the top of the soil dry out and they will be gone. Ya dont need any insecticides.

Yes sticky traps are awsome I use take down its all organic its mainly canola oil and perythrim which kills all stages of insects. Basically perythrim shut down insects nerve system killing them. Its also safe to spray on plant but wouldnt recommend it in flowering stage I just spray soil and use sticky traps

I have to agree, let the soil dry out, I have also put coffee grounds on top of the soil this seems to work and it doesn't hurt the plant

I would listen to dirtboy and let the soil dry out and get some sticky traps for the adults.

That's exactly what I was going to say! Get some sticky fly paper for the adults flying around, you'd be amazed how many get stuck on that within a few days. And then yeah, let your soil dry out to get rid of the little gnat larva...

Plus neem oil is great. I'm going to use it on my next grow from the get go, sorta like a preventative.

I have never used neem oil or anything like that. I just let the top of the soil dry out before watering and get no bugs.

ive not tryed this and not saying it helps/works but ive read in a few places that if you put sand on top of your soil that will help also,
please dont hold me to this its only what i have read.

That makes sense because sand dries really fast and will stop the nats from hatching and or laying there larvea

I have a cure!! or atleast help! i had the same problem and i figured away out to stop the buggers! go to the fish store and buy white gravel, the smallest, flastest, cheapest white gravel they have(white helps reflect light!) and put about an inch of it on ur soil. make sure there is no soil showing watsoever. then press the gravel down to make it compact, but not to much to were u make the soil compact. and now those fucking bugs cant get through the gravel ! :D it works for me, also i sprayed alot of raid in my grow room and it killed 90percent of them, didnt affect my plants though
