Somebody help me....

I want to buy a 100 watt hps. I need someone to give me some ansers before I purchase it.

1. What is a Ballast.

2. Can I plug a 100 watt hps directly into my outlets at my home.


Ive been using MH for veg and flower so everyone wants me to buy a HPS. Thanks in advance.

You dont get an answer in 10 mins and you bump your thread? Do some reading before you post. There is a ton of info on what a ballast is, and if you can plug them in. Instead of posting, search google or this forum.

I dont know what a "bumb" is and I dont care. All the time you spent writing that shit you could of given me a strait anser. The whole point of this site is to ask questions so I thought I would give it a shot.

It would be nice if people asked questions that werent already answered a hundred times. And IDK where you got "bumb" from, I never wrote anything close to that. Just like your question in ANOTHER useless thread, of what spectrum is used for flowering, you could have either read the growfaq, which you obviously havent, or searched this site. Go read the growfaq, all of your questions will be answered. And consult the growfaq before you post YET ANOTHER thread that has been answered a hundred times.

A ballast is what fires up High Intensity Lights (often called HID). This includes High Pressure Sodium and Metal Halide (HPS and MH). They can be plugged into a regular socket if you get the 120v cord. The 240v cord has a special plug on it.

Now that I answered... muyoso is right. A simple google search could have gotten you the answer. This forum is for asking questions - yes - but some people get annoyed when they think people want all the work done for them.

hey cole get a plug in mh/hps,there like 180.a ballast is a device intended to limit the amount of current in an electriccircuit.
Ballasts vary greatly in complexity. They can be as simple as a series resistor as commonly used with small neon lamps. For higher-power installations, too much energy would be wasted in a resistive ballast, so alternatives are used that depend upon the reactance of inductors, capacitors, or both. Finally, ballasts can be as complex as the computerized, remote-controlled electronic ballasts used with fluorescent lamps.

Only advice i can give u is not to buy a 100 watt hps light , get atleast a 400watter all under that is waist of money if dint get for free. the lumens are not high enough for the electrecity it consumes

I Agree with grow4tho187 it's a waist of money getting anything smaller then 400... well depending. Anyways, have a look at this site... Gives you an idea of how large of an area you can grow with how many watts Cannabis Lighting Types and Intensities
