Somebody answer my carbon filter fan ? real quick please

Hello. I'm going to need a carbon setup in my room, but funds are getting short.....you know tis the season


I've looked at the HTG supply combo setup that is $120. I felt that was rather cheap. The filter has 4lb of carbon whereas the CAN-33 has 16lb. Logic tells me that more carbon = more effective.

The Can-33 and fan combos are more than I really want to spend, although I am convinced that CAN is a good and effective brand.

My question is this; Do I really need the type of fan they typically pair with these filters? They are a bit expensive, and the cheapest I found was $90 shipped.

Would something like this work?

no it will not work, it is used to boost air that is already moving, not to suck air through filters. not strong enough.

That lowes duct fan is a waste of money. You will have to upgrade after buying it so dont buy it. I don't know what you are running but this is what you need. From experience...An S & P fan the 150 model works great on low ( 2 settings hi/lo) for a 400 watter. It is the quitest fan I cant hear it. Go to ebay and search Carbon filters. This one works great and a little smaller/less expensive then the can model.

I would suggest also getting the 6 inch insulated ducting from hd/lowes for $25 a roll. I also suggest if you have a flower and veg. area close get a Y splitter and run one side veg and the other flower. Works...good luck
