some seedlings lost..

i have a handful of sprouting seedlings that look dead.. they were just an inch tall and they suddenly got weak and soft in the middle of the stem and bent down.. i suspect they may have been too wet.. also maybe they shouldn't have gone outside for sun in this cool weather..

what are some things that cause this? i will get pictures if you want..
