some kind of 15 min on/off timer

Hey all, i made myself a little ezcloner type setup. Pump is on 24/7 and water temp sits at about 82 (room temp is 67). So only thing i can think of is putting the pump on 15 min on/off intervals and see if that will drop the water temp 7 - 8 degrees.

I cant figure out exactly what i am looking for though.... if i used a regular digital timer i would need to program way to many on/off settings, and i have not seen a timer that would let me program that many anyways.

So mabye some kind of switch that just that flips every 15 min???

any suggestions??

Mike is right...what you're looking for is a recycling timer. They range in price from about $70 up to $250 for a fancy one from companies like Sentinel. The better ones allow you to program it down to the second.

Then again, what pump are you using? I had the same temp problem initially, but then I switched to an EcoPlus pump from the recommendations on this forum and that solved my solution temp problem.

+1 on both the Repeat Cycle timer & the EcoPlus pump. Hoever, I use a 30 on/30 off timer from home depot. The kind with the tabs you pull up or push down. I have no temp issues & the babies are happy as can be...

Just to add further...when I switched over to the EcoPlus 396 pump for my cloner box I was able to run the pump 24/7, which I prefer for cloning, and keep the temps well below 70°F. Before the pump switch, my solution temp was in the low to mid 80's. Good, cheap, reliable, cool running pumps indeed. For my veg and flowering systems, I'm running EcoPlus 633 pumps (and my lights) off a Sentinel MDT-1 timer. The timer is absolutely incredible...a bit pricey at ~$180, but incredible. The veg & flowering pumps run 1 minute on/5 minutes off.

thanks for the quick responses guys.... right now i am using a 300gph Little Giant submersable pump, i am going to check out this ecoplus pump, i would be alot happier being able to keep my pump on 24/7 than adding another timer to my set up.

I agree a recycle timer is the best way to go but I didnt want to spend the money on one yet. I got a 15 min on/off timer at a pet store. It works great babies are happy and keeps the rez temps down

about $8 at walmart. This isnt the exact one, but pretty much the same. You can program as many on/off times as you want throughout the day. You just push down on the little buttons/pins that go all around it, pushed down = off, up = on. It spins in a 24 hour cycle and will go on an off depending on the pins. Easy as cake. :)
