Some help please..I have been robbed!

Hello everyone,

It is with a sad heart that I have to come to this forum for help:( I discovered yesterday morning that my garden has been stolen!! I have been so careful. I thought it was very secure, being behind a huge outside security door, and an interior steel door. It didn't matter...all were smashed in and my beautiful ladies gone. At first, I was not going to call the police. The old mind set is hard to break. But, I am a law abiding citizen and have nothing to hide. So, I called my local police department to report the robbery. I will say, it was a hard call to make. When the police officer arrived and I explained what happened and what was stolen, he was surprisingly very nice!! In fact, I think he was nicer! He was very professional and kind. Not really what I thought would happen. They are sending a detective to take finger prints, and moving forward aggressively! I feel badly because they now have about 4-5 pounds of medical grade meds out there being sold by some punks. I had put all of my healing vibes into those plants. They were full of love and health. I mourn them..
So, my questions are...what do you think my insurance company will say??
How am I going to restart my grow?? Everything is destroyed, so no clones?? Does anyone have a security system in place? Which one? How much $$. Any other suggestions on how to stay safe moving forward.
And finally, with a bowed head and heavy heart..are there any donations available? I have none, and that was going to hold me threw winter. Or.. Are there any caregivers that will accepted me without me designating all 6 plants?
Please send healing vibes..
Thanks for your time all:)
Blessings....

Sucks. But I can't help but think what I often do in this situation. Massive security door. The bigger the indication of security, the higher the risk if being targeted.

True... Never thought about it that way...
Any ideas on a security system??

The insurance will blow you off because they use fed guidelines. Then they will drop you. That's what they did to a friend.

A new house.

Someone just got 5lb from your house, and security door and steel door did nothing. You can bet they'll be keeping an eye open for next time.
I know. I am a target now. I am going to consult a security company. I have read/heard varying information on the insurance end of things. I am hopeful, but expect a hard time.

Just remember that insurance companies will typically have a million loop holes to get them out of paying up. By all means fight them, but I would be incredibly surprised if violation of a federal law would be in the small print.

That sucks, sorry for your loss. As for insurance companies, they usually have a disclaimer about covering loss due to 'criminal activity' on the part of the policy holder. So, you're probably fucked again.

Thank you...
I wasn't doing anything criminal. I stay with in the guidelines of the law. The insurance company is based in California. That is a green friendly state. That won't help me with my medicine, no matter what. You can't just go to Walgreen and get some more.

If you were growing as a commercial operation, homeowners insurance won't cover it, unless you bought a rider to include it. They may also cancel your insurance if you didn't tell them you were running a commercial operation out of your home. If you were giving away your crop free of charge (meaning no "donations") or growing only for personal use, they should cover it.

Actually, you were violating Federal law. Why does everyone think they are legal just because the government fails to prosecute?

I wouldn't even bother with filing an insurance claim if it were me. It won't be covered, for the reasons stated above. And, you will likely be cancelled. Or have your rates raised sky-high (of course, that would only happen if they did cover you.)
Get a security system. No need for a company unless you want to go that way. You can buy all the components to do a DIY system that will protect your whole house, with cameras, door/window sensors, motion detectors, gas and fire detectors. All wireless. You can control and see your cameras over the web.
Depending on how much you need, you should be able to do all this for well under $1K. The camera system will be accessible on the Internet, and the home security system will need a SIM from a wireless company (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.). The carrier needs to support a certain protocol that not all do. You can also get a system that can support both cellular and land line phone. There are literally scores of models on eBay for this. Most of the wireless components are universal.
Good luck, hope this helps.

Yes. I am notified via cell phone and text within seconds of anything going off. Everything on uninterruptable power supplies.
