i hope i dont get shot by RIU but i found a great link that is very informative on many subjects, i havent read the whole thing yet, myself, but after i do i think i will have a PhD in how to grow MJ :D

here it is

Ask Lucas - Cannabis-World

i hope this helped someone, and dont be shy to toss me some rep points if you liked it :D

i was waiting to start talking about the lucas formula when the hempy thread took off...but now's a good of time as any...this is a great method for hydro user's...if using r/o an gh nutes the ph will keep itself stabalized in the resi...peace az

i've dabbled in the black arts of lucas yes...i can say that you must use r/o water tap will not work....r/o is the basis of the lucas system....but using this system you can eliminate the need for changing your resi every 2 weeks as you can use the add back when the ppm count starts to drop...also like i said you can eliminate phing as long as you follow the guide lines an use gh hydro nutes...
veg is 5 parts micro 10 parts flower
flower is 8 parts micro 16 parts flower
no grow nutes
mix micro first then add floro....peace az

Ive been reading almost the whole lucas thread and it seems pretty legit info. backed up by some pretty serious research too. check this site for really good info on lucas and other info CannaStats Home Page im using gh with weekly res changes and quite a few enhancers and ?????? ive had good results mixed with some bad ones. I think ill try it

the lucas formula isnt just for gh nutes its for any nutes. its just a formula for cannabis plant needs 100-100-200-60 in NPKMg format. pure blend pro bloom from botanicare follows the lucas formula with 15ml bloom and 5 ml calmag. he suggests GH because it is the easyest. I think everyone should start out with the lucas formula for their desired nutes and learn that and work on environmental factors before using any other enhancers. it is the backbone to being a very very good grower...peace also no one seems to know this formula right so if you have any questions I can give the right answers..15 years experience

for gh the formula is
5ml micro for veg with 10 ml bloom
8ml micro for flower with 16 ml bloom
with this you must use r/o water as well as mixing the micro first...doing it like this will keep the ph stabilized at 5.7...it will shift for a couple hours but will settle back down at 5.7....i also agree that adding a calmag in flower is a great additive but most people i know who have been running this system for a long time suggest otherwise an say as long as your runnin the gh with r/o you should need no additives....peace az

sup az?

is 30ppm tap water good enough to be considered RO?

i live in the same state where some of the best water on earth is bottled and sold

i would try it defently....let it bubble for a day at least befor using it...just in case of any chlorine....whats the ph at this may come into play...peace az

you can get a Britta water filter and it puts out 0.06ppm water...... that or i need to calibrate my ppm pen.... I'll double check this tonight

its around 6.9-7.1.... usually @ 7.0 depending on my shitty ph meter

ohh and az, i was reading

"> Is the 5 ml, and 8 ml of Flora Nova Bloom still the standard when it comes to veg and flower?

lucas says-I dont have a weaker formula for veg.. The only time I use weaker nutes is under fluorescent lights.
"

he goes on later saying how you should use the same 0-8-16 for vegg because it produces beefier stalks and harder plants....

al b fuct says that chlorine is actually beneficial to hydro ops. his reasoning is because if you are using chem nutes there are no beneficial bacteria to kill if using tap water w/ chlorine. tap water actually helps prevent bacteria growth for the first couple days. after that he uses h2o2 to kill any stray organisms, plus the h2o2 oxygenates the water for a little..

this is al b fucts logic, and it makes sense to me when using chem nutes..
also he has many years of experience while mine is limited to a couple of grows, so i have much to learn & dictate whats right and whats not.

while some chlorine is accepltable an often required by the plants in small amounts...constant birages with it will kill the plants an weakin them to other ailments ...i cant say for sure how the water is where alb. but he aint in the us an i know my water here sucks...so if someone was to use tap constantly they would need to bubble it to reduce some amounts of chlorine floride an other shitty things the US does to the water...like i said from my experence with the lucas formula an others who used it befor me with gh nutes its 5mlmicro an 10milbloom for veg with 8milmicro an 16milbloom for flower...all with the micro nutes mixed first...peace az

Ask Lucas - Page 2 - Cannabis-World

this is a quote from lucas from the above link at the very top of the page

> is it ok to simply raise the tds of an 0-5-10 rezup to the target tds of 0-8-16 when flowering is initiated, rather than dumping the rez of 0-5-10

yes, if you are vegging in 0-5-10, you can certainly just add more nutes and keep going, by raising the TDS.

imvho, there is no need to dump the veg res

Im glad you asked about that, because Ive been meaning to talk a bit about vegetative nutes.
btw, before I blaze ahead, I dont recommend 0-5-10 as a veg formula actually, I only recommend it as a low light formula..

now lets talk about vegging

if newly rooted clones are transplanted into containers that are going to veg under fluoros, that is a sort of weak light situation, and using weak nutes makes sense, ~1000 ppm

but after the first week or two of fluoros, if the plants move to strong light, HPS light, or MH light, but with big lamps, you know, not fluoros, what is referred to as HID lighting.. then I want them to see full strength nutes.. 0-8-16.. ~13-1400ppm

now to the question of vegetative formulas
I find the use of FloraNovaGrow definitely kicks the vegging plants into greener, but also stretchier gear. In fact, vegging with FNGrow, the stalks turn into big hollow things that look like celery.. whereas when vegging with FNBloom, as I have always advocated in the past, vegging with bloom nutes, produces much more solid stems

sidenote, Clarke claims there is some belief that drug cultivars have hollow stems. I dont know if this is true, but I do know that higher doses of Nitrogen than the bloom recipe I know so well, produces hollow stems in plants that did not have them before..

anyway, back to the veg nute thang

I think vegging in FloraNovaGrow instead of FNBloom has some positive effects on kick starting the plants, so I devised an experiment..

a bubbler reservoir was mixed with FNGrow, and plants were vegged in it for a week, then, instead of dumping, when the light was flipped, all nute additions were FloraNovaBloom from then on.

so in this case the grow nutes stayed in the res, after veg ended, but only bloom nutes were added to the res when addbacks were made

this totally unreplicated experiment produced one of the highest yields that gardener has reported.. 1.75lbs per 1k... nothing outrageous, but, the cola size was huge!.. twice as fat as usually seen when veg is done with a low Nitrogen, bloom style nute

what Im driving at is the idea of feeding the stretch that Mr. Highway mentioned in the past.. the idea of nitrogen loading the initial days of 12/12.. I think he was on to something..

point of the story, even in this scenario, a res with Grow nutes during veg, not just weak bloom nutes, was not dumped, the Bloom nutes were simply added to the res as the bloom cycle went along consuming TDS..

so to your original, and insightful question, can one simply keep adding bloom nutes to a vegetative res, once the light is flipped, without dumping the veg res,,, my opinion is YES!
