Some DON'Ts

Hey there fellow noobs!

I thought I would perhaps start a thread on some definite do nots! I have a few plants growing and I started planting some more in 3" Jiffy cups and placed them with my other plants under cfl lighting. DO NOT DO THIS! So even though I made sure the cup was always moist the seeds still fried! Two of them! I am sure most people know this, but as for noobs we aren't told everything! Most things we learn from making mistakes, so I thought I would share this and continue to post on here and mistakes that are make to stop noobs from doing it too! And if anyone else has anything to add feel free! If you look at the pictures I posted the little root that came out of my seed is thin and pretty much just plain fucked. So words of advice (which I happened to receive from more seasoned growers) place your little plants in a window seal until they sprout, then introduce them to your lights. I did take out the seeds, water thoroughly and replant the seeds. I'm not to confident that they will be saved, but I thought I would try, because if it works, I can post it here so if anyone makes that same mistake they will know they can be saved, haha. :eyesmoke:

i put my seeds under cfl lighting and they never do that..
if they were in the jiffy pots how did you know they fried?
if the taproot sees too much light it will die so if you "checked" on it in the dirt you killed it.
what are your temps with your setup?

Hmm... I saw the seed on top of the soil when I check them and saw the root out of the dirt and shriveled up. But I didn't remove the soil lol. Maybe I just have bad luck! Temp right now is a little high at 88 due to a broken a/c unit which will be getting fixed tonight, thank god it's effing hot! So maybe that did it.... but I don't know because my other ones seem to be doing okay.. hmmm...

You placed the seed in too shallow of a hole. Next time, bury it deeper, IMHO

ya bury the seed one inch deep, it will find its way out and will have a nice deep root.
88 is 31c so you are the same temp my box is but i have 2 small fans blowing at all times and i get no heat stress!
try that :)

Thanks guys! Good idea, totally thought I had fried them! Lol, I have one fan in my grow room right now but I have been wanting to get another one, or just a better one.
