some beginner questions

im starting my first grow sometime soon and ive been searching a lot of info about everything and its all starting to blur together so forgive me if my question has been answered somewhere else. im starting to buy all of my equipment but i am on a budget but i know it cost money for good results so im being realistic with it. im going to be using a grow tent (48x48x72) purchased online because i want something that can be packed and moved without being too noticable. i know my basic setup needs after that is an HID light system and intake fan, carbon filter, exhaust. all of this is going to cost money that i cant put up right now but will be able to afford over the next few weeks. what im wondering is what do i need just to get these plants started?

ive read about cfl lighting and ive planned on setting up some of them around the plants to get more lighting with the HID but what i want to do is just buy those for now and start the grow in a smaller box (plastic storage bin) with the cfl lights and some jiffy pots and transferring to larger pots, but then i will be using the HIDs. how long can i grow the plants in the box before the transfer? (5 plants, flowering time is 9-11 weeks on the strain im using) would i be able to start them now with less equipment and buy the rest over the next few weeks? what would i need just to start? sorry if this is hard to follow im finding it hard to put my question into words.

also, whats the deal with my intake/exhaust system? what is a good (cheap) intake fan? and as far as the exhaust goes, i know i need the carbon filter to mask the smell but do i need to have a filter/fan to push the air out or could i just go with the filter and let the air flow out on its own? what are your recommendations for a good affordable filter and exhaust fan combo if this is needed?

also, im pretty sure a 600 watt mh/hps setup is fine for my area but i would like to hear your thoughts on whether or not i should go with 1000. once again i am on a budget but my main concern is starting a setup that can be used later so i dont want to buy a bunch of bs just to go out and get better stuff next grow. if you could give me some advice or point me in the right direction that would be great.

thanks in advance

OK flowering time means the time it takes to complete flowering. The plant needs to grow from seed first - about 2 months if you're smart, less if you're the impatient sort. Count on the longest time they claim it takes to flower and add a few days. Your starting plan is great! KISS! I mean it. Low watt CFL to sprout and start. 1 23 watt per plant is my suggestion. Then cheap bowl reflectors can hold up to 55-watt CFLs. About $29 at Wal Mart for both pieces. Then when ready to flower at 30 days (you won't wait 2 months) switch to HID. HPS, 1000 watts. Hell yes.

You can do a complete grow with CFL by the way.

Always go with the highest watts you can afford. In racing nothing beats cubic inches. In growing nothing beats lumens.
