Some advice on new grow.

Hi guys, hope all are doing good.

so i received my seeds from Nirvana and will be going in for germinating tonight. I will be going with the paper towel method but first soaking the seeds in mineral water for about 6 hrs.

- seeds are Nirvana (Outdoor) MK 100% feminized.
- No rush with harvesting. as natural as possible if at all possible.
- will be starting off with 1 or 2 seeds maximum.

So I got 2 choices with how to do this grow.

1. Begin Vegetative phase under artificial HPS 400-600 or CFL light. And then transplant outdoors for rest of plant cycle.

2. Plant outdoors right after germination under sunlight for entire duration.

I should point out that weather is tropical but direct sunlight is not going to be easy (if i understand correctly, more light during vegetative phase is what is needed). And since in a tropical country there is always insects.

i also got some questions on flowering and harvesting. so , if i were to plant outdoors when does the plant go into flowering, supposing the light is constant? With more light does the plant vegetate more and does this result in better yield? But do strains from Nirvana with 'specific' flowering times have a life-span. Dont know if this sounds stupid but i am stoned and i cant explain it any better.

Finally, Shall I go ahead with the grow completely outdoors or use HPS or CFL light for the initial Veg phase.

will appreciate if anyone can provide some input.

Peace

If you have the space and the ability, I would definitely start the germinated seeds under the lights indoors. Just make sure there is plenty of airflow in the room they're in, so the stalks get toughened up a bit. Once they get outdoors, the stalks have to be strong enough to deal with random wind gusts/sustained wind. This is obvious though, just wanted to remind ya.

You'll have more seedlings survive if you start them out inside too, and they'll be stronger when you do transplant them.

If you can't start and nurture them indoors, you should still be ok. Just be sure to keep an eye on the young seedlings. Keep them watered regardless, but don't flood them so the roots can't breath. Stick your fingers in the soil three inches...if it's wet, don't water, if it is dry, water.

Depending on how rural your locale, I would try to install some sort of fencing. I lost over half of my seedlings to deer and random animals eating them this year...because I didn't install fencing in time.

You'll see flowering when daylight gets closer to 12 hours dark, 12 hours light. Until that happens, the plants will continue to grow vegetatively.

Good luck. Ask more questions if you get stuck.

i use 4 daytime florecent lites for all starter plants, (clone or seedling)has always worked out for me... and like the other guy said make sure of lots of air flow....And where im at we still have 16hrs or more of lite everyday and i have half of my plants budding already, but didnt get them out side til first wek of july either..

for how long should i use the CFL lights? Does 5 weeks vegetative with 16 hrs of light under CFL (about 5 bulbs - say 6000 lumens) sound okay. thing is i am going to grow the plant outdoors and i got a little section outside my room which acts as an outside porch. so ventilation may not be a problem since it will be outside even under the CFL lights. will cover the sides with some reflective material but a fan is necessary to toughen up the branches and stems, right.

germination tonight. cant wait.
