Solar storm 400

I have a solar storm 400 in a cabinet (supercloset deluxe 3.0)

And my temps are now 92-94 degrees. What can I do? I added a fan at the top of the cab to move air at the top of the cab, then got 2 others at opsite sides, one higher and one under the light pointing upwards a little.... In hopes I can move the air faster but I'm at a loss... My room is at 82 degrees, my AC at my house is set to 76. What can I do?

Get a big fan, and may as well get a carbon filter to keep the smell down cuz ull prob need it. That will get the air movin and keep temps down.

I have a Carbon air filter....I can add a second so it will suck double the air out, could this work?

Or I can add my 6' inline fan and suck hot air behind the cab

Ya if you got the filter suspended with your 6er sucking that hot air out I would imagine you should be well below 90s. Are all the fans working on the SS properly?

Are the fans exhausting the air or just blowing it around the cabinet? I'm don't know how big your supercloset deluxe 3.0 is but a solarstorm 400 shouldn't put out that much heat. The room being at 82 with the rest of the house at 76 seems odd, too. Check to see if you're getting good air flow from the A/C vent WITH THE ROOM DOOR CLOSED. I've used the central air to cool the bedroom I grow in, but I left the blower in the "on" (not "auto") position because the growroom heats up much faster than the rest of the house. I eventually bought a window A/C for the grow room to prevent the smell from the growroom permeating the whole house.

This is what I have for the cabinet
http://www.atlantishydroponics.com/mobile/products.cfm/id/3762/name/ecoplus-3.25

Looks to be only 25 CFM

Couldn't I flip this around and turn it off. And attach my 6' line to it, and then drill a 6' hole in my roof. Place my Inline fan up in the roof & maybe put a dimmer on it and put it at half since right now I have 25 CFM and my inline fan is 420 CFM.... Then I would put at the other end of the Inline fan I would put the 6x24 carbon filter.

Bare in mind my carbon filter wouldn't technically be in the cabinet it would be in the attic...

Would this work?

What do you think? Do you thibk it may give me to much negative pressure or not?

It's 409 CFM

Here is the fan I have, do you think I should just slap a dimmer on the fan and call it a day?

Is it possible that I can suck the air out of the cabinet then bring it up the ceiling and through the fan, and out through the carbon filter or does the filter have to be in the cabinet.

Please let me know

All the carbon filters (can type) I've seen only work in suction. Yes, the filter should be in the cabinet. A 25 CFM fan is much too small to be of any use. It would just be choking off your bigger fan. Don't use a dimmer with a fan. It will burn it out. Use a speed controller. There are only two speed controllers sold in the US under many different names. One costs well over a $100 and does make the fan quieter at slow speeds but really isn't worth the extra money. The other can be bought at Harbor Freight for $20 or so. It's made in the same factory as the name brands sold in hydro stores for twice as much.

I'll post some photos later today after I've cut the hole and done all the work but I think its going to work better then what I have right now, thats for sure. :)

Here you go buddy http://www.ledgrowlightforum.com/diy-heat-exhaust-manifold-for-the-solarstorm-800-t201.html it's a cooling mod for the SS 800 but the SS 400 is just a smaller version. Just follow this gentlemans DIY with cheap parts from home depot. The problem is your CLW ss 400, they do run hot because of the 5w leds being run at over 4w. This should significantly lower your grow room temps.

good luck

At the moment, I am very unhappy...Didnt expect to get hit with such high temps...

But that configuration wont work for my cab I have :(

Is their a way you cab modify his design so that your still directly drawing the heat of the side exhausts! don't even need the top fan mod just the exhaust and it will still significantly reduce your temps. IDK.....maybe bring the exhaust tubing from the top and not from the side. sorry for the repetitiveness, my phone is garbage..

Alrighty guys I ended up doing a trail and error today...

Supercloset customer support sucks.. Won't help me trouble shoot using Cali light solar storm 400w LEDs but will sell me a appolo LED for 4x the cost of retail but just with their name on it... They got balls....

So I spoke with Brandon twice today and he helped me out.

My room temp right now is 78; my cabinet is 80.4 (as of right now) only 30mins running, will check in a hour to see temp...

Any how I tested using 2 carbon air filters the fans that super closet gave me they say are 120 CFM so I went to use that and I was at 84.7 in less then 30mins so I emptied my res out, moved my cab and cut a hole in the ceiling.

I dropped a hose down and I used a fan that super closet had, just reversed it so I had something for the hose to grip onto but didn't inticipate the fan to be going in the opposite direction so it was actually blowing air in as I was trying to suck air out...

So I had taken the fan off and used a 4 to 6 defuser and taped that to the hole, works perfectly I have 400 CFM right now and my temps are 80.4

I'm curious couldn't I take one of the 120 CFM fans and just blow air into the cab since I have extreme negative pressure right now would it hurt to blow some colder air into the cab? What do you all think.

I open the flaps and use a cir fan. Hot air rises so most should escape through the top air vent/port

Let me attach some photos of what I have done, but last night I ran the light over night with the cab door half open and I ran at 78. With it closed I am 82, but its also ALOT of Negative preasure and I noticed my plants not doing well so I opened the door until I can get a dimmer to dim the fan to 50%

But if at full 402CFM I am at 82 degrees then at half, wouldn't my temps be higher?

Couldnt I just use one of the 120 CFM fans to blow cool air from room temp into the cab and then have the 400CFM fan sucking air out?

Awe man dude don't chop holes in your ceiling dude... Awe that makes me kringe, thats full on house hold grow op move. You just shaved a grand off your property value not to mention if you ever have to explain why there is a perfectly round 6 inch whole in the ceiling, stop butchering your property.

Peace
