Soil Too Soft?

Well let start off by saying that I feel like a fucking idiot! So I'm posting this in newb section cause that's exactly what this is; a newb mistake.

So I planted my seeds a week ago. I planted about an inch down (too deep, I know). So today I went looking for them. The seeds I planted in BuildAsoil's seedling mix are nowhere to be found!! I dug at least 2 inches down, looking for them - Nothing! No tap root, not even a seed.

Is it possible that the seed got pushed down with watering and rain? (I'm outdoors btw)

I'm just pissed cause I spent a lot of money this year. So far I've found 5 out of 13 seeds. all ready to sprout. Am I fucked??

Wow slow down, seeds can and will hide away on you in with the perilite and junk, sometimes and I stress sometimes if soaking wet in some thing with no drainage they can and will compost naturally. I usually start seeds in water, then to paper towel in zippered bags in warm dark place, when I got a shoot sometimes up to 2 weeks later, then I go into soil. It does also depend on the strain, some do well popping in soil, but a heat matt underneath is a must and 75-85 degrees constant temp is needed for proper germination as well as keeping the soils moisture levels up higher than normal (humidity dome works great but the suck to use, working on a better one if anyone has one please pm me!) plastic wrap works double cupping but make it a clear top cup light as well as the heat will caox them out of their shells to the raining light above. I hope this helps you, all is never lost Brother, just look at it a different way! Peace to All, Be Safe.

Nobody thats serious plants seeds in the ground. Start them indoors. Or at least in something thatkeeps good temps loke a greenhouse. I feel for ya bud, but seeds need to be germinated in the right atmosphere. They are tempermental. Hopefully you can pick up some clones at a good price.

he's right unless your starting like 100-300 plants by chance you should never plant a seed outside..too many variables.. but next time you get seeds get a super fine piece of sand paper and lightly scuff the outside of the seeds... most seeds have really strong outer casings that water has a hard time penetrating... or older seeds have the outer casings dry out which makes it even harder for water to penetrate... lightly scuffing the outside of the seed will allow the water to penetrate and 9/10 you germinate and have seedlings poping through the soil in 48-72 hours all evenly.

yeah years ago when i first started running outdoor i would plant 16" little bushes outside with no major protection and i would come back to the plants dug and ripped out with claw marks everywhere..not sure what was doing it but outdoors in a like forest area is truly the worst place for seeds.. I've walked up on deer before eating mature mid flower plants.. little fuckers..
