Soil runoff

I have water that is below 70ppm, i add epson salts to bring it to just over a hundred, i have lime in my soil but fear not enough and would like to double what i use. Calmag is the last deficiency i will ever see in my opinion.

I thought epsom salts was just magnesium and no calcium, i added 200ppm to my tap water that was ph8 and it brought it down to pH7.5. I didn't try dolomite lime but i might tonight, dolomite lime will not register on the ec meter which is a shame as i could administer both by watering.

Don't other things make a soil akaline? pot ash or some Nitrogen or Phosphorous or Potassium soil ferts amendments produce an akaline result. Maybe you have stuff like this in the soil causing high pH?

Mix in peat, dose a great job at giving me acidic soil!lol!

Im using the dreaded MG organic right now and I hear thats on the acidic side from all the moss and bark, so I should be lower.

Do moss and bark make a soil acidic? I think a lot of my peat free is composted moss and bark.

I feared that lime wasn't water soluable, the bigger parts of it dropped out of suspension in the water and settled at the bottom. The rest kept the water cloudy and lime coloured but i wondered if i left this long enough wether it too would fall too the bottom of the glass.

I got quite good and quick results from adding my own poedered dolomite lime to water and applying to the soil, almost overnight so what the hell happened there, thats fast acting to me???? Puzzled by this now.

Um i'm gona mix some powdered dolomite lime in with some pH8 water and see if it lowers the pH like epsom salts did. Stupid thing to do but i will find out soon.

I guess it depends on the type bark itself, I hear MG is more acidic cuz' they use alot of pine bark. Not quite sure about peat moss either, guess it depends where it comes from.

When i get back i will look at the various akaline ingredients to soil and your ingredients too. Thought sulphur or somthing made high alkalinity but can't remember now, will get the book out!

moss is acidic, don't know about bark... gonna look it up now

If you're looking for an alternative to peat moss, coco will provide similar properties and functions with a PH range more suitable for cannabis.

RE: powdered lime. It is much more soluble in my experience. I can mix my nutes and add the lime and BOOM 7.0 exactly. You should find the same results Kingrow. All of the goodness IN the soil as opposed to ON it (with granulated). I still say powdered is the fastest acting of all of the types I have tried both for PH stability and cal/mag.

How are your girls? Are they coming around?

Slowly although i wouldn't do no pics they took a real hit, back to school!lol!

Ok so i agree my powdered lime gave me results in like 24 hours but as i am seeing it has run quick. I am having to vastly increase my lime and am seeing pH issues in new seedlings a week old, very bad soil is my final conclusion. Has 10percent more peat in it than last year and i think the root of the problem. Need to play with a few things first and maybe even change to coco as i am getting real p!ssed off with the peat sh!t, sorry!...

Ok so i added dolomite lime powder to water, ec read 5.4 or 5400 ppm and the pH went straight up past 9!
The epsom salts reduced the pH from 8 to 7.5 but didn't add as much as the lime.

Is this your problem with the alkaline soil, too much lime? If it did this to water it might to your soil if you got enough of it in there?

Im fairly certain that my excess of dolomite lime is keeping my pH between 7.3-7.5. Like a rock it won't budge, I tried flushing with like 6.4 pH water and it does nothing.

dude i wish i could come to your house and check your ladies out lol at least you'll know a shit ton when you figure this shit out.... I feel for ya brotha

In fact i'm sorry but i want a rant, who the hell are the soil companies i am using trying to kid, their crap soil is worthless and leaving me guessing at the amendments the cheap gits forgot to put in! I didn't buy weed for 8 months of last year thanks to my little grow and now i buy it every week, what a rip off!

I am worried that i would have to add toxic amounts of lime to stop this stuff becoming acidic and its not even 6.5 like the bag says but more like 6.3! Sod this, if coco is the same as soil i am there or if anyone knows a way out of this acidic soil? I don't want to change the way i grow just the soil and pH problems! Working with lime iss such a hassle!

Yer i would agree too much lime keeping pH high! This is my worst fear guys, i solve the pH problems but kill the plant with lime.

We got the same problem reversed your pH is low my is high.
