miracle-gro potting mix

0.21n-0.07p-0.14k

would this be a good soild to start with .

I found a wide variety at lowes, home depot, and wal mart. Long story short, 2 transplants later my plants are in a mix of scotts enriched lawn soil, Miracle grow organic choice, and african violet potting soil.

Just check the ph level in that soil.

so most of what depens is ph level

Well, check how heavy it is so you can easier gauge the amount of water to give. From what I've read, the ph of the soil should be fine around 7(neutral).

Hey Stony ...

If you want to really do it right, here's the ticket:

2 parts Shultz's Potting Soil Plus.

1 part Perlite.

1 part Vermeculite.

1 part Worm Castings.

Add one SMALL handful of Granulated Dolimite Lime per each two gallons of soil mix.

You should be able to get everything listed above from your local nursery.

For fertilizers use:

Vegging: Peter's "Jack's Classic" 20-20-20.
Flowering: Peter's "Jack's Classic Blossom Booster" 10-30-20.

Here's where to order the fertilizers via mail: http://www.jacksclassic.com/

Good luck ...

ok i just dont wanna go all out on my first grow i might not ever do it again thanks for the good info tho. and how much would you say all that costed you.

stoney, the parts Vi gave you can be used for other plants if you give up later and it's not expensive. they will make your crop far more productive, in or outdoors.

If you can't find good soil, go to Fox Farm's website and they have a way to look up retailers state by state. I've got some of my plants in Fox Farms Ocean Forest, and some others in Black Gold. Can't tell which is better, they all seem pretty happy.
