Check out Coco..I just started with it..you can check it my journal out..from everything I have researched..it is the best medium..you do have to do a little more with the nutrients though
Reseach Cooc Coir I uses B'CUZZ it is prewashed and buffed

For newbies I prefer Miracle gro potting mix moisture control or regular , not the organic mg, or if you got the cash or a nursery close by go get some fox farm, sum fish emulsion, and maybe sum bat guano and some water soluable fert. 1 for veg and 1 for bloom. Heres a pic of my 8 day old feminized LAwoman from attitude seedbank in regular MG potting mix. And that pot measures 9 inches by 9 inches. But for seedlings any soil is good cause they dont really need nutrients till the 2nd week. Id be more concerned with my lighting. I use 7800k and 6500k for veg and sprouts. adding about 20% vermaculite and 20% perlite will also help a tad.

I use BlackGold seedling mix. seems to work perty good.
