Soil Question/Problem?

I usually run my NFT system and had to add a soil plant due to having too many plants germinate. So I went to Home Depot and picked the best (I thought) that they had. It was Vigro planting mix. It turns out that is mostly green waste compost and when I watered heavily to prepare for planing, it didn't drain very fast at all. It took about five hours to drain out, the pot I chose may have small drain holes too.
Anyway, I can not water too much or I get the soil water logged and choke out the O2 in the soil. I've just been adding ~14 oz per watering and maybe every 10-14 days, fertigating with 1000ppm GH Grow and Micro and odd times with just tap water.
The soil is high in wood fibers and really holds moisture. In 10 weeks I've never seen Lil' Durban stressed due to drying out. She's doing well but I worry that I'll end up with too much salts in the soil and she'll crap out in late flower. She's been flowering for 2-3 weeks now and still looks pretty good. No problems yet, but I worry about her.

Is this a problem or paranoia?

You're probably right. I just didn't want to buy more crap than I needed to grow one seed. Can I get perlite in small quantities? I don't need 2 cu Ft of it for my little Durban. I'm going to stick to my NFT in the future so I don't need a lot of soil stuff.

Next time buy Sunshine 4 high porosity. Home Depot sells it. Buy a small bag of perlite to add to it.
