Soil / Planter / and a few other questions.. i need some help quick!

-What basic ingredients do I need in my soil? (I have no grow-stores anywhere near and am on a bit of a tight budget). I have a Menards and a Walmart basicly... what are a few things I could use to make my soil better for my indoor garden. (please be specific!)
-Would night crawlers or some kind of worm help?
-Is it ok to use an 18 gallon dark green plastic tub for 3-4 smaller plants? Does it hurt using just the one planter for more then one plant? And when I switch to flowering and am able to sex my plants can I just rip the males out of the ground or will the dead male roots affect the females?
-Would it be ok to mount a fluorescent light on the wall (for lower lighting) and a MH light for above lighting? Or is there something against mixing the lights? And can I introduce a HPS light during flowering while keeping at least the MH light in the same room (setting both at the same 12/12 timing, of course).
-This one may be silly but I have read different things- White walls or Aluminum foil?? I believe the answer is flat white walls... does anyone have an argument for that or am I correct?

Thanks for the help!!!

Ive been reading. Just figured it would be nice to get some specific questions answered instead of keep reading a bunch of "close to what I want to know" answers... thanks for wasting my time though :/

sorry.. just figured posting on a forum would maybe help get me some answers from people that were more experienced... apparently its just a place for jerks to degrade people seeking a little more knowledge then what they are finding.

White walls certainly better than tin foil. I would suggest getting different pots. A good rule of thumb is 1 gallon for each foot in height you want your finished plants to be. No there is no issue with mixing light sources. In fact, the more light the better.

Also, while there are a few jackasses that think it is ok to degrade or insult people who are just seeking advice. Most people here are very friendly an willing to help. As for the others, if I saw their plants burning I would'nt piss on them.

Good Luck and +rep for taking the leap into farming!

Post your questions in the newbie forum... I know you know where this is located because you obviously did your research before you asked your questions...

Ok thanks so much. I assumed that the white walls would be better from what i've been reading up on. And i've read the 1 gallon for each foot - that leads me to the question about the 18 gallon tubs. i've got 8 plants and 2 buckets (right now the plants are just in cups but need to be replanted asap). I have one 100 watt MH light (slowly building my room as I get cash). And I've read that a 100watt MH will work for about a 2x2 area. So i figured if i had the two buckets going I could grow 4 plants in each 18 gal container to about 4 feet high (then start flowering and kill off males). And in doing it that way I would utilize the little amount of light I can afford for now. I also have a fluorescent grow light (about 3ft long with 2 tubes) that I was going to mount to the wall for the lower branches of my plants. Also with the buckets I have an idea for a drip and drainage system (the plastic can easily have holes drilled in it).

- Would the 2 buckets be an ok choice? My only other affordable option is getting 8 5 gallon buckets... But its more expensive and space consuming.

*Thanks so much for the reply its greatly appreciated!*
its my 2nd grow and I love learning all of this!

Oh one more question to anyone who might know: Has anyone herd of adding vitamin B12 to their plant water? Someone told me that this helps somehow... I cant seem to find anything proving or denying this... or anything on the subject at all... They also told me that using the evergreen spikes help. - I did both of these to my first crop and that crop turned out amazing.. However I also did the following: Added night crawlers, used some fox farm fertz (only during the last few weeks), smoked with my plants, used a dehydrater and mini fan at all times, and put ashes (not cig) into the planters. My plants did not weild alot (maybe a quarter between 3 plants), however I only used some cheap fluorescent lights and also was topping the plants (first grow... no idea lol), but the buds tasted amazing and were quite potent
