Soil Ph - Driving me Nuts!!

Hi,

I am currently growing Kali Mist, only 3 plants, just for personal use. The plants are just over 4 weeks old and are only about 3 inches in height. I know this type of variety are slow growing but these seem very small for there age.

Well I measured my run off tonight through the pots (only 3" pots) 2 of the plants were 7.4 and 1 was 7.7. This is the first time I measured the run off (I know, silly cunt I should have checked this earlier!), I have flushed and flushed and flushed to try and get the ph down to at least 6.8, It ain't happening!. I have poured 3-4 lites of water over these small pots and it ain't budging, the ph has hardly moved, they were flushed with ph 6.0 water. I am currently using Bio-Bizz all mix but I am skeptical about this stuff. I had to feed the plants after 2 1/2 weeks because they ran out of nutes, the label claims 4 weeks without feed!.

Well I suppose my question is how do I get this bloody Ph DOWN??? ITS DRIVING ME NUTS! I am a ball hair away from going hydo at this rate!!

Using tap water for flush? I hate BIO BIZZ! I use foxfarm and I never even check my soil ph anymore. Once you find a nute you like and get a system down then you might not have to either. Also I always start with 1 gallon pots, then transplant before flower if I have to. The more soil in a pot the easier to keep ph balanced, and nute burn at bay. That's been my expeirence anyways.

Oh also they have soil ph test kits. I like using those instead of testing run off much more accurate!! If your having problems with soil ph don't start a hydro system lol. One more thing. Get some good hydro nutes and start some hepmy buckets if anything. perlite is ph neutral.

I think as long as the water your are utilizing to water your plants is ph d to 6.8 6.5 whatever, you should be fine.. my soil ph is mostly always at 7 but the water I use always gets ph d to 6.5 and ive never had any problems

I am using tap water, ph of 7.4 before I add ph down. I am just finding growth rate really slow. I am using a MH bulb, temps are between 25-28 degrees C Rh 40-50 %. Only thing I can think of, soil is crap or Ph is too far out locking out Mn, iron?

Can you use bicarbonate of soda to lower the ph of soil for MJ?. I know it can be used for lawns but is it safe on MJ?. How much should I use?

I dont know if u could lower the overall ph of soil quickly, I use lime/lemon juice to lower my waters ph and my soil sits at 7..plants never showed slow growth, maybe u should wait for a few days to see if u growht starts to improve if not maybe consider getting some diff soil

do not use bicarbonate of soda to lower ph, it will in fact raise ph a bit
and sodium containing minerals aren't too good for mj
the best stuff for lowering ph is phosphoric acid, i think that is what ph down contains
it lowers ph and adds an essential mineral in the process

I have ph down which like you said growzone contains phosphoric acid, but how do you add that to soil?. Another thing that puzzles me, if you are adding ph'd water to your plants say of 6.5, then would it matter if the soil was say 7.5?. Does that not mean effectively the soil is now 6.5?.

i haven't used the product, i'd think you add a quantity to water to get a water with a desired ph - say water with a ph of 6 in your case
now the soil ph vs. the water ph can be a bear - eventually enough 6.5 water is going to reduce the soil ph - just a question of time - which doesn't help you because it can take a long time
if you have Ph Down, you should just have to prepare the water you want and apply
