Soil not drying much

I have 2 pants in 3 gal pots and I have been watering them every 3 days besides the last time was 4 days one pot took an extra day to dry which its never done. Now this time 4 days in both are really wet. They have about another week of flower left. The top of the soil looks like I just watered in the morning today. Temps are around 65 lights off 78 lights on and humidity 30%-40%. Same air circulation same light schedule.

Im guessing there not taking in the water but Im not to sure why that is. Has anyone ran into this before? I tried searching but mosty what I came up with was talking about clones due to lack of roots till they grow in.

sometimes its just a matter of them not needing it as much as last time... or it could be temps... colder temps and they don't drink a lot... it could be many things.. know they don't drink with lights out..... but don't worry about it .. its simple.. when its dry(when the pot is lite when you lift it) .. water... there is no specific schedule you need to follow.

Ya I always water when needed its been pretty much every 3 days. Just seemed weird all of a sudden its not trying

As long as your run-off ppm isnt retarded or low pH you are probably fine.
Less heat,less light and more humidity can also cause them to drink less aswell as salty roots.

the plants know what to drink . if you start getting mold or bugs on the soil . then just stir in some perlite . problem solved . do not breath the dust from perlite its harsh on the lungs .

How old and how big are the plants?

I put a small desk fan blowing on my pots and under the plants I find I helps dry the pots better when temps have been low, allways shuffle the top soil after a day of watering and face the fan back on them.

The plants are a week or so from harvest and there short plants I can't tell you exact height I'm not around them.

Not taking up water OR reduced water uptake at or close to harvest says the plants near to or done.....Reduce the normal amount watered.. and look at them everyday for tric's showing "NOW"

This can also be that you over watered and the plant is struggling to use the water. Anaerobic condition starting or near starting.

Always check to see if the plant actually needs watering first.....Do not blindly add water in an "everyday" manor, because that's what it's been doing before (using that amount).

I always check before I water it just happened to need it every 3 days. I looked at the trichs few days ago decided to give them a week longer.

At this point they should be just fine if they're almost done, what I like to do is as follows. I like home Depot 5 gallon buckets, they're a good size and have a nostalgic value to me from when pops showed me the ropes, now we all know plants breath carbon dioxide and roots breath oxygen and a healthy root system makes a healthy plant so before purring sprouts in the soil I take a drill with a half inch bit and drill holes in the bottom for drainage and all over the sides, it allows the soil to dry more evenly and gets oxygen to the root system. An idea I've had but never used is to take an inch wide piece of pvc pipe with holes drilled in it and put it in the bucket and pour soil around it because it, in theory, would keep things aired, this solves the problem of disturbing the roots because using the holes in the side method the soil will still get packed and every once in a while one needs to stick a pencil in the whole to open things up, potentially hurting roots. In a case study I had some auto flower purp kush and one bucket I added holes and another I did not, the bucket with side holes grew to a good 4 feet and had much larger buds as opposed to a 3 foot tall smaller Buded plant.
