Soil moved too deep in the smart pot

Hey guys, i have a few plants under a HPS and this is the first time i use Smart Pots and i have encountered a problem. After i have transplanted the seedlings into the 11L (3 gallons) smart pots and watered them twice the soil level went down a bit, got more compact and it ran down in the pot, so now instead of having a full leveled pot full of dirt i have it filled around 80% and the lower plant leaves are touching the soil and also touching the smart pot on sides and is unnable to grow properly i suppose.

What can i do to fix this? Should i pull the whole plant and the soil out of the pot very carefully and then add soil at the bottom of the smart pot to level the soil in the pot to a good level?....

Thanks.

hello and welcome to RIU @Kili Frunza
i use air-pots and you do have to be careful with how you compact the dirt in there. it sounds like you've moved your seedlings into the larger pot before they're ready - normally you would wait until they've had some time to veg in the original containers. in this case, i would just leave them alone, they will stretch for you and then you can top that last 20% off with dirt as time goes by. good luck on your grow.

Hey there undercovergrow and Thank you. They were ready for transplant the problem is that i should have added more soil to the pots and water them before the transplant and more dirt if necesary. I skipped the watering part that is why the level went down a bit.... After germination i put them in small plastic cups until they have 4 pretty strong leaves, the root was starting to go circular around the small plastic cup when i transplanted, therefore i think it wasn't too fast, i might be wrong tough. I guess i will just move from 18/6 to 24/0 to help them stretch a bit then.

Did you add areation to the pot. Also water slowly don't dump it onto soil. And it's not bad that it sunk. If you have more good soil unused fox farm etc you can top dress with it when goin into flower or so to help give a lil more nutes

Just run it. Itll be fine. Weed grows lateral. Add some more medium to the top and water it in. Smart pots go wide instead of deep for a reason.

Smart Pots don't need extra aeration added, that's why they are smart pots cause they are aerated, its fabric, the roots can breathe anytime (except if you overwater)

Question for those who used Smart Pots before.

Do the plants require less watering in those pots because last watering was 5 days ago but they are still heavy AF and when i stick my finger in the dirt i can still sense moisture after i pass the surface of the dirt. That is unusual for me or at least when i used the plastic pots they were asking for water more often.

Id add aeration regardless my friend. The plants must be quite small as 5 days seems long.

How to add aeration to smart pots wich are made of textile fabric? Just cut holes in the bottom? Even so without aeration when i lift them up i see roots punching through the fabric (on the bottom of it)...

You still need to put food quality and good draining soil in smart pots the only difference in a smart pot IMO is that they will air prune roots do to the obvious design .......and they should be drying out quicker or as quick as normal pots. You can't put shit soil in any pot including smart pots and expect good results you still need decent soil to begin with no matter what your growing in

Ohh, i have not mentioned it but i use a really good soil, not sure if i can say its name here but its one of the top products for cannabis, it comes with perlite in it and all the lava rock and tree barks and so on. I don't know what gave you the impression that i act like a know it all, if i would have i would not have come here seeking answers and offer help (from what information i have)......

I always treat my girls with the best products on the market my friend, because i respect ganja and at the harvest the ganja respects me :). Cheers and thanks for the help, much appreciated.
