what would be a reall effective and cheaper way to go hydro

Hiya Scoo ...

This is a setup for a Deep Water Culture (DWC) hydro grow.

Go to WalMart and buy the following:

One 20 gallon RubberMaid tub with lid.
Two 12" airstones (aquarium department).
One, Dual airpump (aquarium department)
One package of clear air lines (aquarium department).
One electrical timer.

Go to hydro store and buy the following:

Six, three inch net pots.
Bag of Lava Rocks.
One quart of Pure Blend Pro "Grow."
One quart of Pure Blend "Bloom."
One small bottle of CalMag.

Go to home depot and buy:

One 2 7/8 hole saw.
If you don't have a drill motor ... buy one.

Now, drill six, evenly spaced, 2 7/8 holes in the top of the lid to place the net pots in.

Drill two small holes in the side of the tub up high, right near the top, to put the air lines through.

Connect the airlines to the pump and airstones. Set the timer for 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off. After you have the solution in the tub, and everything set, plug the pump into the timer.

Mix up your solution like this: Vegging: 15ml "grow" per gallon of water. Flowering: 15ml of "Bloom" and 5ml of CalMag.

Fill the tub until the solution is about 1/4 inch below the net pots.

As the water gets used up, just add more water until you've replaced the 20 gallons, drain the tub, then mix up a new batch with nutes and pour that in.

That's about it. Don't forget to hang a light above the plants. *lol*

Know what's really cool? Its when you take the time to type out a lengthy response to a question and never get a return response.

Ya that happens so frequently on this site lol...

Thats EXACTLY what I am going to be doing, 6 plant DWC system. However I do not have a drill nor do I plan on getting a drill, so the holes wil have to be made some other way.

Im spending over 500$CDN on my next grow, getting bubble bags for this grow (100$), HPS light (300$), DWC Bubbler (40ish$), 20 seeds (200$), Nutes and etc...

I'd rather avoid spending ANY more than I have too, as I think my setup will be VERY good (I'm trying to make it the most ideal I can, and I've spoiled my plants as is with my purchasing plans).

*lol* ... Exactly, videoman.

ray sez ...

sounds good to me to go for hydro but what is the diffirent between hydro and soil?

Hydro increases the speed of the vegging process a lot. Also, you have much better control over nutrients ... no guess work at all. You know exactly what your mix is. Plus, at harvest you don't have all that dirt to get rid of.

well so i went out today and purchesd all the crap to build this dwc sytem and to my suprise it wasent much money i bought the following stuff....
2-top finn dual airpumps xp-60( pumps 60 u.s gallons)at 15$ each
2 - 4 inch (they didnt have any bigger)air rocks
33 feet of clear air lines for the pump
and it coast me 50$ at petco

then i went across the street to target and bought
4 18 gallon plastic tubes (not the clear ones)
and those were 4$ each
so i spent 18 dollers at target

by then the local hydro store was closed for me to get the finel stuff but ill have it done by the end of thiss weekend but ive done sum reserch and it will probably cost around 80-90$ to get the nutes calmag and lava rocks and net pots .... oh and a ph tester but thats extra................
so all in all id say it will coast me around 150$ to build 4 DWC sets ......I MUST SAY THATS NOT TO BAD .....................
