Socialism is the Root of all Evil

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy.

I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility.

After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level
determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.

On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its
valuables thanks to the local police department.

And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

Nice sarcasm, but the right ignores these facts, Quite frankly, I can't even see their point of view as anything but selfishness, meanness, and anti-social. If I wanted what they had bad enough, I'd strap on my bullet proof vest, a couple of handguns, take my AK47 and stroll through their neighborhoods, taking what I wanted at random, I'd take along a couple a friends to watch my back. Although this is a fictional scenario, I wouldn't rule it out in the future, not by me, but by many that have waited too long for social justice.

There is unquestionably a need for many Government oversights and some do a fairly good job. But the question is not whether or not Government can do certain things but how efficiently the can do it. Take your example of the USPS. This is an awful organization that is horribly run. Both UPS and FedEx do a much better job and show a profit as opposed to the USPS which does a relatively poor job and loses money.

People on the Left like to make poor comparisons using examples like Medicare and the care we give to our Military. But these organizations only insure a handful of people with all workers paying in. If we try to insure everyone, with only part of our population working, you have a much different dynamic.

Bottom line, if you want your health care being run like the USPS or the DMV you want socialized medicine. You like going to the DMV when you are sick?

In that case you better thank the Right for protecting your 2nd amendment right to bear arms.

Although it might not be smart to post your criminal musings on a public forum.

Say, don't you have one of those cadillac medical plans, you sure act like it. So why don't you let ther rest of the people have at least some medical plan, even if it doesn't meet your standards?

As a member of the NRA, I believe I've been active in protecting my own gun rights. Not all of us on the left are going to lay down, I'm certainly not, and I know a few more in my neighborhood that own and will use their guns when the right time arrives. This event, (class warfare) will probably not occur in my lifetime, but as I've said before, when the food runs out, anything could happen. I'm pretty sure they will be coming for your stash. I mean, like the guy said when asked, "why do you rob banks"? "Well" he said, "thats where they keep the monry".

I woke up this morning, took a shit in my unapproved unregulated perfectly fucking safe outhouse, made coffee from rainwater I collected off the roof of the house I built without any stupid fucking permits or asshole bureaucrats to get in the way.

Made breakfast from eggs from my free range chickens and some dried berries I'd saved. When I finished I whistled to my unregistered dog and hopped in my beater truck, which I PAID FOR and didn't ask others to subsidize via idiotic thieving programs like cash for clunkers.

Drove down a private road I maintain to the public way. I grabbed a newspaper at the local country store, sat on the front porch and read the paper in between sipping my coffee and hating the government with the local crew. A perfectly happy day for me.

Other than the bit of public road, which I've fixed many a time on my own and pay dearly for thru property taxes I don't have much use for many government programs. Yet SOME of you insist I pay for them. Make you a deal, I know you don't use my outhouse, or pay for it but like alot of opinions on this forums it's full of shit. What say YOU come shovel out my outhouse ? That'd be fair right?

You didn't have to mention this. It was presumed from sentence one.

And at least your public school English teacher taught you a thing or two about hyperbole.

He also never said the government makes alarm clocks. He said:

Let's see....no need for public utilities, private corporations could do the exact same thing more efficiently. We Really don't need the FCC, and we dont need the NWS to forecast the weather. We don't need the Department of Agriculture, and they did not actually inspect your food. The FDA is nice I suppose, but there could just as easily be free market alternatives. We don't need the FED, we'd be better off without them, we wouldnt be in this crisis if it wern't for them. The post office records billions in red ink every year, while UPS and fedex turn a profit.
I seriously doubt that you would have been maimed or anything without OSHA standards, and if you thought you're job was unsafe, or your employer was not taking proper safety precautions, you are always free to find a new job.
We do need roads, police, fire department...but the rest we'd be better off without.

Do you mean that unlike you I don't advocate giving away other people's earnings.

The USDA doesn't inspect food? Since when?

Jesus.. do you actually KNOW anything, or do you just THINK you know everything?

Are you honestly advocating FREE MARKET drug inspection companies? UH, I don't know about you but I don't trust a PROFIT seeking industry to accurately determine the safety of a potentially deadly substance. Would you feel comfortable taking a nitroglycerin pill inspected for "safety" by the friendly folks at Wal Mart? Think about what you're saying for once, before letting things simply fall out of your mouth. Public utilities run by a bunch of greedy corporate pirates? Really? You think that would be a good idea? How's it working with health insurance premiums, huh? Oh, they're rising faster than wages, you say? Interesting....golly, gee... I wonder why that's happening?

Here's just a small list of socialist agencies that is destroying this great nation.

http://www.madatoms.com/site/blog/socialist-agencies-destroying-america

WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!
Your rationale is lost on these hopeless souls.

Their argument against everything government-run is "all those programs are bankrupt!". Well, they aren't bankrupt but they are certainly not as well-funded as they could be. How are these programs funded? Tax revenue, of course! Why are they running out of funding? Because the financial NEEDS of those programs (which are based on the DEMAND for the services those programs provide) are rising faster than tax revenue totals are rising. DUH! When some 15% of Americans aren't making an income at all, and of the 85% that ARE, only 47% pay any income tax... it's not exactly rocket science, folks.

Well I guess they "inspect" food, in that they inspect farms, factories etc. I suppose I mean to say test food. What percent of food do you think they actually inspect for things like salmonella, E. Coli, etc...

As for free market drug inspection, I'm all for it. Private companies are more accountable than the federal government. Like you said, They are out to make a profit. Approving and releasing dangerous drugs into the market isn't going to make you a profit if your hit with a billion dollar class-action. The FDA makes it harder to sue drug companies. I'm not talking about wal-mart doing drug testing...obviously drug testing would be a whole separate industry silly. Competition will make drug testing more efficient. Currently life-saving drugs have to go through an expensive, inefficient process before they can be released. The FDA kills people.

And healthcare is so expensive thanks to Medicare/medicaid, and excessive regulation.

Why so hostile?

Nice backpedaling. Seriously, they make a profit so you think this makes them more accountable? The only "more" it makes them is more likely to follow their greedy little instincts and choose PROFITS over the safety of people. Don't say it doesn't happen, it happens all the fucking time. Who says they would make any safety guarantees on their own? So people can sue them, you think this is any kind of real deterrent for companies who would become even bigger monopolizers if not for the FDA? We're talking about the drug companies, here. Companies that spend hundreds of billions of dollars per year on advertising alone! You think they'd be worried about a couple of lawsuits? HA!

How does the FDA make it harder to sue drug companies? That's not true at all!

Who's hostile? Because I point out flaws in your logic, I'm being hostile? I think you're confusing hostility with honesty.

One honest question for you doobnVA. It only requires a yes or no answer too.

Do you believe people should decide how to live their own lives as long as they don't harm anyone else?

doobnVA

Well-Known Member
Absolutely I do. I have a question for you now.

Do you think corporations who are in business to make a PROFIT give two craps if they hurt anybody, as long as they are making their shareholders happy by earning profits?

Health care is expensive because of MEDICARE AND MEDICAID? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Do you know what drives up costs? PROFIT SEEKING. Do Medicare and Medicaid make a profit? NO, they don't. You realize medicare and medicaid are only rising because there are MORE people using those services than before? Why are insurance premiums rising again? Oh, that's right, because the insurance industry wants to make MORE PROFITS! DUH.
