So what about all male plants?

SO I am very new and have not attempted to grow but have a nice plump bag seed from some smoke I liked a bit.
I am going to sprout and plant it for some experience before moving on to anything worth while.
I have read (and keep reading) but wondered what if an all male plant grows?
How common is this?
Can you removed the nads and.. then what? Does it ever turn female?
If not does the plant have any amount of THC in the leaves to form hash or anything?
Just need some info if all male plants are trash or not.

Thanks

No a male plant will not turn female. Cant happen. There are ways to turn a female into a male.... And female into a hermie... removal of the nads will just result in a neutered male, still semi-useless. Hell if you wanna waste your time for experience by all means, its your time.

The male plant can be used to make a hash, considering its LOW THC content. But most if not ALL growers destroy males. Unless your in the market of breeding....

How common is this? When you have 2 choices the odds are 50\50
Can you removed the nads and.. then what? i guess you could but there would be no reason to Does it ever turn female? Only in your fantasies

ARMH.
Ya, Dirty Jerzey covered the gender issue pretty well. I just wanted to add a few more things you could work on while learning with the bagseed.

Determining gender is something that you'll need to learn. Most people grow the plants to a vertain level of maturity until the plants exhibit pre-flowers.

Another method is to take a clone off the plant and stick the clone in 12/12 light to flower it. Once you know the gender of the clone...you also know the gender of the Momma.
Good luck,
JD

If it is a lone seed from a bag of bud the chances of the seed being female is far greater than the seed being male.

Im not one to argue.... but i do not believe that one bit. I feel itll always be around 50/50. With bagseed that is.... Now ive also asked the question, because I feel, if a single seed comes from a bag of some great bud. That plant was a hermie. And what does that do to your odds? Genetic hermaphrodite?

But i'm not seasoned grower by any means. And I learn new things every day. And I owe it all to RIU.

Thank you for your replies. I greatly appreciate it.

Honestly I DO NOT have a green thumb and kill (with love) everything I plant. I now understand that I tend to over water and over fertilize (or fertilize too early) and that leads to their demise so I think a test grow for me is the best idea so not at all a waste of time for me.

I have seen quite a few pictures and I think I have a pretty good idea of what to look for in a female, male or hermi plant but I need IRL experience and so that is what I am gong for.

Actually this was a single big seed from a big bud and I was very surprised to find it. If it turns out to produce buds then awesome but I won't be crushed if I end up killing it or it is male (which now would just toss). Making my list of items I need a will post as we get started. Planning on starting the seed at the end of the month.

Thanks again!

OH! One more question!
Do you have to allow bag seed to hibernate in the fridge or freeze before resting and germinating it?

Hmm.. so if a plant is a hermie and fertilizes itself then the chances of that seed turning into a hermi are higher? Or is it the same 50/50?
Actually I hope it would be a hermie. I would get maximum experience and possibly still get a little bud in the end. That would be optimum for me but watch..it will me male knowing my luck! LOL

No problem.... best advise for new growers, dont over think it. Tooo much love will kill it. Maybe that's your problem? Im not a soil grower so Im no help in that watering aspect.

Thats still a mystery to me. I have a herm right now. I just got done clipping all the male parts, and am working on the female aspect and flowering now. You will get smoke from a hermie.

Im only saying what Ive learned on here. which turns out is 70% wrong, and you'll adapt to your own growing style, and methods.

Yes that is my problem. I dote over plants and so then... they die! I have learned my lesson and had a bumper crop of tomatoes last year. It was amazing! I pretty much ignored them and the harvest produced so much I didn't know what to do with it all. I hope I have the same issue here!!! :) Hehe!

If you are growing in pots of soil purchase hygrometers to help you solve your watering problems. I have grown countless mj plants and I have never seen a hermie. But I do know that a female that has never known a male will occasionally produce a female seed. The seeds can survive freezing but freezing is not nessesary.

ARMH,
I agree...tomatoes are great to grow. Easy and nice to eat once they fruit.

So many noobs select a soil with time-release nutrients in it. That's a really bad choice for many reasons. And also start your seed in a mild seed starter mix. The two most common noob errors. Good luck...

I am growing in pots and so a meter is a very good idea. I will not put them into dormancy then if not needed.
Oooo.. that is interesting about the seed. Now I very eager to see what this seed becomes. :)
