This is all too funny. love your forts gwn, lol.
You guys are not noticing something though. Dining rooms are often just that...seperate rooms, only characterized by having one or more doors or openings from a kitchen area. Formal dining rooms, anyway.
I know this because my husband and I have been going through HUNDREDS of generic floor plans. We had to pick one to use as a base for a custom home build on some property in Tenn. we want to retire to.

So to the op, don't you have a car? A friend? I'd stow my stuff in my vehicle if I didn't have anywhere else to put it. Just be careful when yer driving, lol.
I'm a 51 yo lady with no suspicious lifestyle, so driving around with some stash in my trunk or spare tire compartment wouldn't draw any unneeded attention.

Still, aren't you going to have a dresser drawer in there somewhere? I stash money, drink chips, and other stuff I don't want hanging around for even my husband to see underneath my socks and underwear in my drawer.
Hell, I used to do that when I smoked pot waaaaaaaayyyyy back when I lived with my parents.

Of course, I could get away with that because I never had to worry about (and don't have to worry now) anyone going through them when I'm not around.

imo your roommates have no business telling you when you can or cannot do with yourself. Nor can they really impose restrictions on what sort of things you keep in your areas (assuming they aren't effecting them). In fact, to me the much larger issue would be how you are going to achieve any semblance of privacy in such a situation. Anyway, the keeping it isn't a big deal. Stick it in the pocket of some jeans or something, it's not like these people should be going through your shit.

The no smoking thing is more of an issue because that is something they have every right to ask, and something you pretty much have to respect as it is something that will effect them. My advice is to start going outside to smoke.
