was successful (soil), however, i want to do some tweeking to get better odor and bigger buds (of course) i used in 3 gallon pots fox farms soil and also their nutrients but my yield was a little bit smaller than i expected, now i know i should just be happy that i was successful with my first grow but as we all know we'll never be satisfied with our final result theres always something we can fix or tweek a little bit which is what im trying to do. like i said, even after curing for 2 weeks my buds didnt take on that stinkiness so many buds get but the potentcy is excellent. i give my buds a 6 out of 10 not bad considering it was my first attempt. in addition to fox farms soil and nutrients i had them growing in a 4x4x8 space under a 400 watt HPS with plenty of ventilation i think i might switch to a 600w HPS set-up this time. that will probably be the biggest change ill make but i want to know if i can maybe add some supplements to my H2O/nutrient mix. if so please let me know. id be glad to take any advice i can get. would NOT topping them help at all?

You might want to start with a better soil mix. Fox Farm is an excellent starting point. Search Subcool or The Rev for recipes.
Did you cover 4x4 with a 400W? 1000W would give proper coverage for that space. You know, the old 50W per foot. More light , the 600W combined with the 400W will help. More intense light makes a healthy plant more potent and will raise the Dank level off the chart. Be prepared. Even a 4x4 garden can stink up the neighborhood when its really dialed in.

organic mix. i measured by lumens in the light. my 400w hps puts off 55000 lumens then divide that munber by amount of plants 6 about a fat 9000 lumens per plant. dont know bout the smell planting mint this spring i guess
